Cereals are definitely not okay.  Forget what you've learned about pure, unprocessed, etc - organic sprouted whole wheat is just as nonpaleo as refined white bread.  Strict paleo is no grains, no legumes, no tubers, and no dairy.

eat any food you would like for breakfast. Steak, eggs, fruit, or nothing if you dont want to.

Eat when hungry, eat what you like. No grains legumes or dairy.

Eggs are most peoples choice.

On days I am rushed I blend 3-4 eggs with a bunch of berries. Faster than cereal for sure.
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

I made a batch of this recipe this week and have been eating them for breakfast. I swapped bacon for italian sausage but they are tasty and easy to reheat when I'm rushing in am. I also have a little salsa with them. Yum!

are cereals like shredded wheat that are pure /unprocessed and have no added sugar OK or are they still a non no cos of wheat?

anything with wheat, or any other grain, is out - cereals, bread, cake, cookies, pastry, brownies, muffins, granola, cereal bars, oats, rice, pasta, bulgar wheat, risotto, cous cous, semolina

all legumes are out - peas, chickpeas, snowpeas, beans - lima, brown, kidney, mung etc. lentils of any kind, peanuts, soya

all dairy is out, butter is considered OK for cooking if you don't have tallow, lard or coconut oil

Breakfast
eggs - scrambled, fried, boiled, poached, baked.  I favour scrambled...yummy!  Duck eggs are particularly delicious
meat - I would stay away from store-bought sausage, which is processed and usually contains rusk (from wheat), and bacon, which is also processed.  Cold roast leftovers usually the best way, or fish liked kippers or smoked mackerel if you can stomach that in the morning.
cereal and milk substitute - berries with chopped nuts plus coconut milk.  You'll still need some protein though.  Liver?

I don't eat breakfast personally as I eat twice a day but when I did I would either have eggs when I got up, or take some cold chicken drumsticks or similar to work and eat them at about 10am when I got hungry
Sugar addiction kills more people than all other kinds of drugs combined

If your food needs a prefix, it's not paleo!

Forget about breakfast as a separate meal with rules - in fact think this way about all meals. You don't need cereal for breakfast or sandwiches for lunch. You just need food.

To get you thinking - here is a Google image search on paleo breakfast.

Note - if it looks like baked goods then it isn't strictly paleo. Nut flours and chocolate flavoured stuff isn't really where you should go, although egg based muffins are excellent.
