Can one lose body fat on excess calories?
« on: January 11, 2009, 01:55:07 PM »
OK. So, in just a while, my experiment begins.

I am going to eat as much animal fat as I can stand, getting my calories way up there, just to see if I can continue losing body fat doing this.

I have always thought the calorie theory had merit, but, possibly it makes no difference if one eats zero carb and eats plenty of animal fat.

This should be a very interesting experiment.

I invite you all to come check it out.

It's gonna be hard to eat all this fat, but, somebody has to do it. ;)

I have found that total calories do not account for weight loss.

If you can maintain that intake of fat, I'm certain that you will continue to lose weight.  I guess you will be feeling rather full though ;)

I eat a lot of calories and continue to lose weight.  The only thing that seems to make a difference is the carbs.  The more veg, fruit and juice I have, the slower I lose weight.  Otherwise I can eat as much meat and fat as I can handle and still lose weight.

I am still relishing the 2lb of steak I ate for dinner last night  ;D

That's good to hear. 8)

Yah, there are some who swear you cannot lose while eating excess calories. I really wanna find this one out.

I think the body is limited to the amount of fat or fat calories it can absorb at one time. Your theory will probably work up to a point.  I've heard of some people who follow the very high fat Optimal Diet (AKA Homo Optimus Diet) who find they only need to eat once or twice a day.  However the typical 3 to 4 meals a day and 2 snacks a day like many people eat it may not work.  Keep us posted on your progress.

Yes, I can easily eat just once a day, but, sometimes two. I normally eat in the evenings. I don't typically overeat, either, so, this is gonna be kinda hard to do. For the last couple days I ate over 5,000 calories each day. I was drowning my meat in animal fat. I'm officially gonna start my experiment on Thursday, posting my cals each day, and my weight each Thursday. I sure hope I don't stall or gain doing this.

Well, I did it again. 8) Went over 5,000 cals, and 81% fat to boot.

This experiment is about to begin.

Read the details here.

http://magicbus.myfreeforum.org/sutra30106.php#30106

I'm feeling a lot better eating all this fat. It's funny how quickly I adjusted to it. For that I'm glad, cuz, not only is it going to be good for the experiment to keep cals as high as possible, but, I really think the more animal fat I consume, the quicker I'm going to lose this excess roll of fat, which is that last, stubborn bit of fat that is so hard to lose.

Thanks for posting this Dean.  I love to see this kind of evidence!

Apparently I am eating about 1.5x the calories I should, yet lose weight (without any exercise) as I keep my carbs low.

I'm not very surprised that you are losing weight...

Basically you need to keep your carbs under 100g a day to lose weight.  Over 150g and you gain.  The rest is all pretty irrelevant.  If you ate 2000 calories of meat and fat you would probably get exactly the same results (minus the bloating from the overdose of fat  ;))

If possible can you also post your summary here each week?  ie.
5232 Average Calories
86% Average Fat
0.4 kg body fat loss

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Tarlach.

Well,

My meat and fat experiment has been getting some interesting results.

On Tuesday I finished my first week. Despite consuming 5232 average daily calories, and 86% average daily animal fat, which should have put 2.8 kg of body fat on me, I actually lost 0.4 kg of body fat. And, the loss continues. Today I was down 0.9 kg! It's really amazing to me.

So much for the calorie theory, huh?

Yeah, I knew the calorie theory was BS.

Your experiment is nice and straightforward to see the results in, without any other influencing factors.

I'm down to about 50g of carbs and I shed fat and put muscle on, while eating lots of calories and doing very little exercise.

It's fantastic!  ;D

That is a good one.  I've enjoyed the report although I doubt I could duplicate that experiment myself.  I think it was after 'drinking turkey grease' where I just had to say, "Nope!"

Do you plan to let doctors, the media or researchers
know about your results? It would be interesting to see what
the low fat proponents tell you!! My guess is that they
would just ignore it.
