Today I am flipping through the channels and find a TV show with some guy named Dr. Oz. He has these people on that reportedly reversed their heart disease following a plant based diet of 70 complex carbs, 20 protein and 10% fat.
I think the average protein intake in the US is about 15%. To get to 20% on a low fat plant based diet seems nearly impossible. But, the people looked very healthy, none of them were over weight, and to back up their claims they had before and after heart scan images. They were all patients of Dr. Dean Ornish, who was in the audience. If you don't know, Dr. Ornish is a low fat lunatic.
However, my question is: If the Dean Ornish diet is so healthy, why does Dean ornish look like crap? Have you seen this guy? He is 56 years old and looks like he is 76. He has a huge double chin and so much fat under his jaw he doesn't appear to have a neck. Who could take health advice from a doctor that looks like this?
He looked fatter and worse than this claimed 2007 photo from Wikipedia:
