Drink question
« on: February 05, 2012, 10:22:06 AM »
Can I drink tea still? I have Lipton tea bags and REALLY want to drink tea!!! So, can I? As long as I don't add sugar?

On a side note I'm on day 3 and have lost 2.4lbs woohoo

I drink tea (and coffee...)  :) You decide what cheats you can handle. In my case I have to stay away from potatoes and bread totally, but other people, mostly guys, eat them sometimes with no issues. Think about what you need to make this a lifetime commitment and then follow it. Cutting out every single thing you enjoy is not the way to do that.

Thank you Suze! Drinking straight water gets old REALLY fast. I love coffee as well so that will be a hard one to kick but I just didn't know if Tea was a bad drink too or not?

I'm new but I'll add my own advice to myself.

My paleo diet is focused on cutting all starchy foods but allowing several non-paleo cheats semi-regularly. So, cutting: bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, corn, beans/legumes. Allowing coffee, tea, limited dairy.

Eating lots of the items suggested in paleo is satiating my hunger and making it less likely I'll "cheat."

If you drink tea, don't add milk or sugar.

Lipton tea may have some extras added, like soy lecithin. You should look into some whole leaf black teas like darjeeling or english breakfast if you like black tea, or various green tea varieties. Once you get into good tea though, its hard to go back.

I am very partial to Zhena's Gypsy Tea, which I order from iHerb.  It's organic, has nothing artificial, and comes in loads of yummy flavors.  Even the tin it comes in is pretty and re-usable!

I'm partial to tea (and coffee lol) and drink it daily - but black and unsweetened.

I drink lots of teas - herbal, fruit, white, green, black...but never with sugar!

Coffee is an occasional treat, once or twice weekly, again black no sugar
Sugar addiction kills more people than all other kinds of drugs combined

If your food needs a prefix, it's not paleo!
