Feeling sick after cheating on Paleo Diet
« on: January 29, 2012, 06:40:59 PM »
I have started on the paleo diet for about three weeks now and have done it with one cheat meal a week.  This current weekend I had a birthday party and indulged in breads and cake.  Within 30 minutes of eating I began to feel very ill..... Upset stomach, tired etc.   is this normal on the diet and if so any suggestions on what to do for cheat meals?

One member recommends high doses of vitamin C, but really the only solution is to not do it.
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

This is normal and the solution for cheat meals is not to eat them.

Yup, that's normal. Lots of paleo eaters find after a while that non-paleo food makes them feel sick, especially wheat. It's a good thing - makes it easy to stay motivated to stick with paleo! I have a few special treats I make for when we want to have a celebration without feeling sick, eg they might have dairy and a little sugar in them but no wheat.

first of all, that's probably how cavemen would have felt.
They'd probably hang you for poisoning them.

Seriously, don't cheat so much.

You'll learn your lessons.
And if you do cheat, control your cheating quantity.
And pick the least killer cheats.

Hit it with a fast colon cleanser.
Castor oil, Senna Tea, Colosan, Oxypowder, Barefoot LBB, pick your colon cleanser
I advice overdosing 5 to 10x probiotics as recommended in the package afterwards.

Totally normal!  I cheated a few times in the beginning and felt the exact same way.  Now, when I cheat, it's with Paleo foods, just the less desirable ones.  Hang in there :)
