Fussy eater needs advice
« on: November 02, 2015, 07:04:30 AM »
Hi,

I haven't started yet because of a few different reasons.

1. I do not have much money - and where I live it's so super expensive to buy paleo-food. But I'd like to buy as much paleo as possible.
2. I still live at my parents house and they do not join me and there is so many yummy things around and I am weak at these matters.
3. And an important part - I'm a really fussy eater myself. I do not like to eat so many things. I really hate animal fat and eat almost just chicken/turkey, I do not like many vegetables but I do like potatoes, beans... but they're not good too. And the new stuff doesn't taste soo good - the only thing I liked which was new was butternut squash. I kind of like coconut milk too but if I drink that pure my stomach gets sick. Even if I'm determined to eat healthier I can't get that down. And most of the time I can't get fruit down (I think it's too cold - I like the taste but other than summer I can't eat it).

I really want to change my eating habits but it's sooo super difficult. Does anyone know how I could start?

The most difficult thing for me is me being a fussy eater and another big issue for me is drinking water.
I never feel thirsty and I always have to force myself to drink (I'm already happy if I drank 1 liter a day) and in the colder times it gets even more difficult - I don't really drink much tea either (again the too cold feeling). Right now I still drink ginger ale but I know it's not a good choice but if I would only drink water I'd be drinking only one cup or something.

I don't know what to do with myself. I really want to change for the sake of my health. I do have some issues with my health (overweight and PCOS). And I do want to get a baby myself but I don't see that happen unless I change my habits and also I want to be a role model to my future kids.

Could anyone help me?

You have made an impressive list of why NOT to go Paleo but few reasons why to make this lifestyle change. That is the wrong way to approach ANY lifestyle change. This isn't a diet, it's a way of life (commonly referred to as a way of eating or "WOE"). You will fail with your present attitude towards it.

Eat to live or live to eat. It's a choice only you can make.

I'm sorry if that sounded too negative.

I do know so many reasons why to make this change and I only wrote what my problems were, to get a little help from someone who might have started at a similar position.

I know that it's a lifestyle and I really want to change but it's so difficult. I also want to change my way to do sports and such. I wish to do a wildernis course and maybe do such for more than just a few weeks...........

The most important reason I want to change to the new lifestyle is that I want to change to a healthier lifestyle.
I want to be active (and not always sleepy), want to get healthy, want to get kids someday, want to enjoy life more..............

And to achieve this I need to overcome the difficulties and to do that I need someone to help me with tips and tricks to handle things - that's why I joined in the first place.

Where do you live?  If it's very far north or south, you might want to start with a vitamin D supplement to avoid seasonal affective symptoms.  Try about 2000 IU per day for a few weeks, and see if that improves things at all.
