Hi everyone,
I started this new lifestyle last Friday and thought I'd share my experience and, hopefully, get some feedback/tips from you all.
My goals: to lose weight, gain energy and live longer!
In the last year I have been suffering from low energy - constantly tired and low in mood, I also ballooned in weight putting on 2 stone (28 pounds) and thought I'd give this Paleo way of life a go.
Starting weight: 223 pounds (6ft 1 bloke with a belly!)
Last Friday I went for it. I have been grazing during the day on nuts and berries and drinking lots of water and green tea (no milk, no sugar). I have cut all agriculture and dairy and processed foods from my diet (I lived off 'ready' microwave meals). I still have my morning coffee. Then, in the evening I have a Paleo 'feast' - meat, eggs, steamed veggies, berries, fish; as much as I want/need.
The first two days were hard. Headaches/stinging eyes/no energy/very hungry...
...then it got a lot better. I didn't crave carbs/sugar and didn't feel hungry - I have gone a couple of days with no grazing of nuts and fruit and just having an evening paleo meal. My mood and energy levels are elevated and I feel good (still have bad moments in the day, but a glass of water seems to sort that out) and I feel a lot less bloated and thinner - 'love handles' and belly are noticeably less flabby.
Weighed myself today...
...211 pounds!
My goal is: 186 pounds - I was that 2 years ago and feel like that is my 'fighting weight'.
A long way to go, I know - will stay on this plan of only eating in the evening (grazing during day if necessary) until I hit 186, then will eat paleo meals through the day as I want/need them.
This is a great way of life so far...would be grateful for any thoughts/tips...especially concerning ketosis - how do I get into it and turn my body into a fat burning machine...?
cheers
