Hear so much about this is good for you, this will make you sick, don't ever eat this or that, etc., while the next day I read something completely antithetical to what I heard.
Fat is good, fat is bad. Carbs are good. Keep carbs low and fat high, with moderate protein.
I really don't know. Is it safe to get a huge amount of my calories from fat with moderate carbs and protein?
I've been eating like this:
breakfast:
3-4x hard boiled eggs
coffee w/ tablespoon heavy cream and 4oz skim milk
snack:
scoop whey protein
cacao powder
1 tablespoon coconut oil
strawberries/blueberries/banana
almond butter/ 100% peanut butter
handful spinach
handful kale
handful romaine
another snack option:
2x avocado, mashed. add tomatoes, onion, jalapeno, garlic powder, sea salt. Use hearts of romaine for 'chips'
dinner:
2x 4oz grass fed beef patties or 3-4 chicken thighs (skinless)
bag of vegetables (green bean, spinach, kale broccoli)
1-2x tablespoon coconut oil
2x tablespoon grassfed butter
-- probably ends up being several cups of vegetables. for perspective, the green beans are frozen and i eat the entire bag. 6 servings, 30 calories each. 180 calories of green beans.
Or I buy two bunches of kale and cook them on low heat until tender; would estimate about 4-5 cups once it is finished
I just want to be pretty healthy. I don't much care what I eat but it is frustrating when I constantly hear disparate claims about what constitutes a healthy diet.
Obviously vegetables are a good idea.. so I think my real contention is whether or not I should be making up the bulk of my calories with fats or carbs.
I only aim for 100 protein. Maintenance calories are probably around 2,000.. So obviously a lot of something needs to go in there.
the diets I listed are just a sample. dinner will always be some meat, around 8ounces, with lots of coconut oil, gf butter, and tons of vegetables.
breakfast is almost always eggs
the snack varries but some sort of whey-vegetable-fruit shake is standard
