Paleo/Primal meal plan that doesn't require recipes?
« on: April 02, 2016, 08:11:39 AM »
Hey everyone - Zadok here, new to the forum.

I started the Paleo lifestyle a couple months ago, and I've so far lost 40 lbs and feel much more energetic. The recipes I've found are delicious and nutrient dense, however they can take 1-2 hours to prepare/cook, and I just don't have time for that in my week.

I'd like to know if there are any paleo/primal/wild diet meal plans out there that don't require recipes.  Most of the recipes are laborious and require expensive ingredients such as almond flour, etc (I'm a student with a tight budget). My main concern is getting enough variety and the full balance of vitamins and minerals I need without loading up on expensive supplements.  Basically a meal plan that says how much of each type of meat, veggie, fruit/nut, fat, etc I need in a week. I have a weight lifter friend who basically eats all of his veggies as Brussels sprouts and spinach and nothing else.

I'm ok with a simple meal plan (eg. "1 serving beef, 1 cup broccoli, 1/2 avocado, 1/2c blueberries, etc). I'm not looking for paleo-friendly alternatives to conventional menu items.

Anyone heard of anything like this?  Thanks in advance.

Here's a few ideas. Replace any dairy/grains as you see fit:

I agree. Paleo can be expensive, I've seen almond butter and blueberries as a recipe. I thought "no way I can afford that" hahaha.

Meat will provide most of the vitamins you need.  There have been people who ate meat and nothing else for decades.  If you eat some rare beef now and then, that will help.

You'll need either sunshine, supplements, or fatty fish for vitamin D.  Sunshine is of course cheapest if you have the time.

Some leafy green vegetables don't hurt.

Honestly paleo foods tend to be very nutrient dense, so you really don't have to overthink things.
