side effects from nightshades
« on: August 31, 2010, 11:44:56 PM »
Is there a list of side effects from nightshades consumption?

I may have been able to associate some with nightshades but would like to check them.

Some folks have issues with the alkaloid substances found in nightshades that can cause or increase joint and muscle pain. Not sure if any official studies have been done but avoidance is best if you suffer from things like gout, arthritis etc.

Seemingly has worked for me......my pain has substantially quieted down since I quit them although I have green pepper occasionally without any issues.

Warren Dew says it sparks up his arthritis.
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

Correct.  I normally have no arthritis, but when I eat nightshades, I get arthritis in my distal finger joints.

Note that this only happened in my late 40s.  Either nightshades were fine before that, or the effects were milder and I didn't notice.
