Smoothies - Paleo ingredients
« on: May 14, 2015, 04:06:58 AM »
Hi everyone,

Just looking for peoples views on smoothies - the homemade kind with vegetables and fruit topped up with water and nuts (no dairy). I am in the dreadful habit of not eating breakfast, but when I have properly woken up I am sitting at my desk and hungry. A smoothie that I prepared that morning seems to do the trick but is it paleo?

Granted our caveman ancestors didn't have a nutri bullet but is the basis of a smoothie sound?

Personally my view is that it's better to eat one's food than to drink it.  In particular, chewing helps to generate the saliva that's needed to properly digest carbohydrates, including fruit.  Some would consider it paleo since the ingredients you mention are definitely paleo, though.

I keep walnuts and macadamias in my desk drawer to snack on if I get hungry before lunch.  If I don't snack, though, I can often survive until close to dinner time before I get hungry.
