Coffee + Calcium and bone health.

I drink coffee. 1 - 2 cups a day. I have no desire to stop. I love the taste, smell, and physiological/psychological effect.
I also take a Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc/Vitamin D supplement. This is my "athletic performance supplement" because after the stress reaction in my left shin, I don't want to take any more chances! I also drink Vitamin D milk and I get plenty of sun. So I know I'm not low on D, and I get 100% RDV of CalMagZinc.
But I've also read that coffee de-mineralizes your bones.
Considering I do not drink soda, or eat sugar, or smoke, is coffee an acceptable indulgence or will it be my undoing?

Milk will de-mineralize your bones more than coffee. Drinking milk is really funny, as it does contain calcium, but screws with your body's pH level, causing your body to pull calcium from the bones to combat it.

Black coffee seems to be a relatively benign cheat, given the number of people on these forums that use it.

Crap.
Well my only source of milk is in my coffee.
Will that destroy me?
I think I could get used to black coffee...

I would try to get used to black coffee. I did. I love it now. It's VERY easy to tell good coffee from bad. Smother it with cream and sugar and you taste the cream and sugar.
That said, I believe if you use heavy whipping cream, or something like that, it has less of the "bad milk stuff" than using milk itself. I can't recall the specifics of it. Some people have had success using coconut milk in coffee, as a gateway.

PD, you drink your coffee in the morning right? The vitamins you are taking work really well if you take them at night (due to hormones released during sleep etc) especially if you are taking them for bone health. Problem solved.
The problem with coffee is its diuretic qualities which means that it increases the amount of calcium we excrete in our urine. Tea can have the same effect. The whole vitamin and mineral absorption thing is complex in any case and I'd take simplistic statements with a healthy dose of scepticism.
You are perfectly OK, the amount of coffee you drink is not a problem. If you are worried, don't swallow your vitamins with your coffee.

I would be careful with consuming too much calcium and vit D. You can do some more research about it, but start here:
http://heartscanblog.blogspot.com/2010/06/increased-blood-calcium-and-vitamin-d.html
. We don't really need that much calcium.

Bone health = Teeth Health
If you can cure tooth decay, you are on the right track.
For example, Rami Nagel authored the book How To Cure Tooth Decay
See
http://www.myhealthblog.org/2008/07/11/cure-tooth-decay/
it has 3 videos with Rami Nagel
Rami is on Aajonus' The Primal Diet with Raw Dairy --- I just ignore any dairy because it doesn't work for me, I'm lactose intolerant. Dropping dairy makes this Paleo Diet.
Many testimonials on tooth remineralizing and old fillings popped out at raw paleo diet yahoo groups. They all think the key was 95% nutritious animal food origin and no fruit.
I was forced to drop coffee. My health was failing directly caused by coffee. I suffered chronic fatigue syndrome for more than 1 month because I kept drinking coffee. Good Riddance to coffee.

I use coconut milk the rare times I drink coffee - I've switched almost totally to green tea. It's quite good.
If black coffee is too bitter but you want to switch, you can try adding a pinch of salt while you get used to it. Smooths out the flavor. +1 on getting good coffee. The crap stuff tastes even worse black.

Everyone must have a strong and regular Dental Care routine. It will not only help you prevent dental issues but it is also a good way to have a better overall health. I am also following the instructions offered by the [link removed]. I had really weak teeth but now they are turning up very strong.
