When do you eat on Paleo?

do you eat as much as you want anytime, or just at mealtime? Do you have to count carbs? and what distinguishes this from the Atkins diet?

I eat when I'm hungry.  While I don't count carbs, I only eat carbohydrates in limited amounts of fruit and in incidental amounts in nuts, of which I usually choose the highest fat varieties, so my carbohydrate iintake is very limited.

There are three main differences between paleo and Atkins:  paleo does not allow dairy; paleo allows unlimited fruit and vegetables, though you may want to limit fruit if you want to maximize weight loss; paleo does not allow you to gradually return to the standard bad diet, as Atkins does in its supposed maintenance phase.

I agree with Warren Dew; I eat when I'm hungry and i don't count calories, carbs or anything else. I focus on choosing the best & freshest foods/ingredients that I can and let the rest take care of it self. I don't think there's any magic to when/what time that you eat.

If you do Paleo right, you won't have the urge to snack between meals very often. The key is to limit carbs and eat plenty of good fats. No need to count carbs or calories.

Atkins permits all sorts of garbage that is non-Paleo, including artificial sweeteners and dairy. There are a LOT of "Atkins-friendly" processed foods as well. No so with Paleo. As Warren said, Atkins is a "diet" while Paleo is a way of eating (WOE) for life, or a lifestyle, if you prefer. Once you realize some of the benefits of Paleo, it's hard to consider anything else, or going back to a SAD.
