Whole Wheat Pancakes
« on: August 31, 2010, 04:17:05 PM »
I have been paleo for a little over a month and I thought it would be a good idea to have whole wheat pancakes this morning.  I piled them with butter and almond butter.  A couple hours went by and I had an appointment to get my hair done.  I had this horrible drowsy feeling come over me and I couldn't keep my eyes open!  I nearly fell asleep in the hairdresser's chair.

Although I did enjoy the pancakes, I will think good and hard before I do that again.   :o

That's one good thing about paleo:  once you get used to it, you'll know when you ingest nonfoods like wheat!

I tried the Paleo Almond Pancakes and they were a perfect substitute for the "Real" thing. Plus so easy to make!

It's simple. 1 egg + 1/4 cup almond meal + 1/4 cup coconut milk = YUMMY pancake.

I serve mine with berries on top. Mmmm

Nonfood is a good way to describe it - it felt like a drug actually.

I was getting the same way, all the time, before I started this WOE.  It felt like I was on downers!  It's one of many things that got me started looking at Paleo.  Now for the first time in my life I'm not only enjoying working out, but really feeling the need to get out and exercise.

Unless I eat grain or starchy food...then I can kiss that goodbye and it's back to drowsiness and/or migraines.

I also make them with shredded coconut instead of almond meal. But that's because I'm a coconut freak!! :P;D

As an every now and then treat, but these neolithic foods made with Paleo ingredients should never be a regular thing.

The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

Well...I guess it is rather like the vegetarian trying to make everything non-meat taste like meat.   :-[

I enjoyed the blog, thanks!
