I am totally not anywhere near to being 'fit' to the point I want to be. I can't even do a pull-up yet, but I am working on it. I also can't say that I 'accept'; my body, because I don't I have about a 30% body fat, and that is just not acceptable. My goal? I don't want to be disgustlingly skinny. I want to feel good, have the enrgy to do the things I want to do and be able to do about 5 pull-ups. Not too horrible.
But, I did go through a pahse when i was younger where I thought I was fat. Man, when I look back at pictures from then I can only say, "I wish I was THAT fat now!" Why did I think I was fat, when it is obvious I was really quite lean and healthy? Part was because my 5 brotheres tortured me and called me fat a lot. The other part was because I did, and still don't, fit into clothing the sizes that I should be able to. When I was 128 pounds at graduation from basic training, my 65 inch butt couldn't fit into anything than a size 9/10. Most women at that height and weight, espeically if they are muscular (I gaine d3 pounds in basic, but went from a size 11/12 to a size 9) can wear much smaller sizes, like a size 5 or something crazy. It lead me to believe I was fat. But really it has to do with the shape of my body.
I have come to terms with the fact that I will never be a size 4, I will never have the 'perfect' hourglass figure, because I am jus tnot shaped that wya. But, I can still get lean, build muscle and be healthy. Since I already have a spouse, what more can I want? Ti be able to enjoy time with my kids, kick ass on the trail and feel good, that is all I need.

That's a healthy attitude!
Get strong and be able to do all the fun stuff that makes life enjoyable.
It's hard to get past the vanity part of it, I know. But with maturity, perhaps we start to work out and eat a little smarter. If I work on getting as strong and healthy as I can be, my shape starts to straighten out too.
Attacking it from the vanity first end of the stick leads to madness. Look at Gwyneth Paltrow and her early onset osteopenia. Scary stuff.

It took a long time for me to accept that I can't be a perfect size 6 like people want, but I can get to be a 10
For me it doesn't help that i live a fatphobic lifestyle, and my weight will impact my career if it isn't kept in check.

What is your career if you don't mind me asking?
If you have a work related body goal, that's a bit different than the usual dieting for looks.
How can I help?

I am in the military. I have been able to reduce my abdominal circumfrence to an acceptable emasurement fo r my fitnes tests, so teh 'danger' is gone now. The rest is for my own enjoyment. Last year at this time I was in a critical position and was almost kicked out of the military because of my weight. I tried EVERYTHING. I saw a dieitian monthly, worked with an exercise physiologist. It was my dad, Jmul, that introduced me to the paleo world, and changed my life.
My biggest issue now is push-ups, but I am not allowed to do any because of a possible strained pec muscle :/ Once I am cleared to workout again, that would be the only are I need help with. They have always been my nemisis, I think because of my hyper-mible joints. I only need to be able to do 14 properly though, so it isn't a death sentence. I want to be able to do about 20-25 in one mintue so I have a little cushion when i take my fitness tests.

Where's the pec strain? At the breastbone or at the shoulder?
Doing some verrrry gentle stretching can help get it working right again assuming it's not a major tear or separation.
What do the docs say?

The pec strain is supposedly along the clavicle. I don't agree that it is a pec strain, but letting them call it that for now allows me to rest it, which is what I needed. I think I have some interesting dysfunction in the shoulder girdle, including the SC joint. A few years ago I dislocated my AC when I fell down the stairs. Now when I do a push-up 'properly' according to the Air Force, I feel popping in the SC joint. When I sleep, if I roll onto my shoulder the entire thing basically collapses on it self, both the SC and AC move. If I do activities like burpees, oh my goodness that is the worst! Last time I did them my entire arm hurt, elbow, wrist and shoulder, I almost cried. I won't be doing those for a while.
The docs don't know what to say, so they give an anti-inflammatory and say come back in a few weeks. The first visit was in NJ at a different doc, so now I am starting over again since we are in a different state. When they do their special tests, it doesn't present as a normal strained AC or rotator cuff, and doesn't show normal instability, although it is pretty much a jello joint. Not sure how familiar you are with shoulders, but normally they will snap or pop if someone rotates at or above 90 degrees of abduction, mine does it at about 35 or so. Above 90 and it 'clunks'. also get numbness in the little/ring finger on that hand. So yeah, it is more than a strained pec. But, it certainly does not present like any 'normal' shoulder dysfunction. Honestly, if I didn't need to do push-ups that forced me to that painful/damaging range (90 degrees of elbow flexion), I would just let it be. I think it is part of my hypermobility, and a surgical repair may only make things worse.
If there is any pec strain it is because the muscles are trying to compensate for the poor state of the joint it self.

Got it. I would very cautiously start doing the shoulder routine in Active Isolated Stretching by Aaron Mattes if it were my shoulder. YMMV.
