If so, I'd like to hear how you've adapted the paleo diet to meet your caloric and carb requirements
Definitely not an endurance runner but a competitive club cyclist and racer. The average club/training ride is usually between 50 - 100kms at an average speed of 32kph(based on route difficulty). Most races for my Cat average between 70 -90km with an average speed upwards of 35KPH. Probably do about six longer rides per season in excess of 100 km with at least one 100 mile century(c.164ish kms)
That said I no longer "carb up" but rather "fat up". Coconut oil, meat and milk are staples. I also eat a pre ride meal that consists of eggs, fatty meat with some vegetable/fruit carbs. No sport drinks....water or a water juice blend. There was a bit of a transition period getting off the carbs but once the body started burning fat I noticed a huge difference in performance and weight loss.
The nice thing about the bike is it usually takes the bulk of the beating with the rider supplying the motor unlike running where you take the pounding and do all the work. Your caloric requirements may differ but if you cut back the carbs then add dietary fat to compensate.
