Goblet squat
« on: March 29, 2013, 06:07:21 PM »
Any fans of the goblet squat out there? I have recently found it and so far dose not bother my knees at all. I have had two torn acl surgeries. Regular squats and dead lifts do. It really hits the inner thighs.

Goblet squats are wonderful exercises! It is easy to modify a stance (regular vs sumo/wide) and is excellent for developing core strength!
Plus it encourages you to keep your knees in line with/behind your toes which is beneficial for anyone with knee problems (which you have discovered)
Plus Plus - it is much easier to get a full ROM this way

I second this. I too have had both knees repaired and I like them. I also use the Frank Zane Leg blaster also. Good for taking stress off of the knees.

Wow!

This is the first I've ever heard of 'goblet squats' and was surprised to see that they didn't hurt my knees at all. My ACL knee was not an issue and the other one ain't all that great these days (45 years of abuse) but no issues there either.

I prefer the 'Sumo wide' stance and having a slight incline under my heels as I noticed in a Youtube vid I just looked up.

As a test I held a large jug of laundry detergent for a weight and gave it a go...

God stuff!
