I have to exercise. I am 65 this year and very unfit
« on: April 15, 2016, 12:14:44 PM »
I have the start of osteoarthritis in my hips and my knees are not flexible.
I have zero money for equipment or a gym.
I have started with some gentle tai chi. I would like to do some weight or resistance training. I own a pair of 2.5kg plastic dumbbells.

Am I beyond help? Can someone point me at something useful on youtube. I have not found anything suitable yet.
Also, I am easily discouraged. How can I measure progress?

I am currently 196 lbs and 5feet 5 inches.

All suggestions gratefully received.

I really need to start gently.

Oh, I also have a static bike and a cross trainer.

Hi. Im 60 yrs. Earlier I was on medication for diabetes and high blood pressure and was nearly losing my senses and my movement restricted due to joint pains. However in April 2015, I stumbled upon a YouTube video-Do you believe butter makes your pants fall down by Butter Bob.. It was something which I thought was funny but decided to watch it to the end. Amazingly Bob showed how he's health condition improve after a year on butter. I decided to do what Bob did and it was a miracle. My health improved with my glucose readings and high blood became normal. I research further and found out ketogenic diet which was similar to what butter Bob was doing. Since then my health improved tremendously and lost 14 kg. Hope you can give a try cos it has help numerous people improve their health. All the best then.

Hello,

First and foremost, exercise is the best choice for healthy living after paleo.

If I was you I'd start of slow, stretching is really important and essential part make sure you do it after you finish your exercise session. Second thing, bodyweight exercises are also extremely helpful, even the most advanced bodybuilders still do push ups, pull ups and Arnold Schwarzenegger recommends them in his book.

I'd recommend improving your flexibility first, because resistance training can hurt your joints if you don't do the exercises correctly.

I've found one handbook for improving your physical condition, if you want the link send me a message.

Best of luck!   :)
