INTENSITY!!!
« on: August 21, 2006, 09:19:36 AM »
It's in our nature to do as little as possible but still get by

Or to take the easy way out just to feel good about doing it but knowing that we could have worked harder

People have trouble finding free time these days so that's an incentive to get more done in a quicker amount of time

The only way is through intensity and the good modern research shows that you are better off busting your hump for 20 minutes than taking a leisurely 2 hour stroll

What I have done is basically never jog again.  It's a waste of time.

I add very intense sprints as part of workouts

I do light variable intensity playing on my longboard or a bike or inline skates which are all important to do on days you're not working out

Throw out your TVs and get off your butt especially if you're already spending most working days in an office

And stop taking the easy way out with a 2 mile jog

Arthur hates lazy people

Intensity it is then.
I'll have to work around the fact that I don't do Gyms, costs too much in my opinion, and most exercises can be done almost anywhere, anyway.
I like Arts site, has lots of good tips, thanks for the link.

There's a certain languidness/lazyness associated with the (alpha) lion that I like. He's clearly built better than any lioness, rarely moves and does not hunt (no cardio work for sure).
What's his secrets?

I think he subscribes to the theory, "that you are only allotted a certain amount of heartbeats in your lifetime, so why use them all up in a hurry". :)

Oh yeah he has no problem just chillin but when the goin gets tough he can kick some serious a*s

He also plays around a lot with mom and kids

Pretty easy to model -- brief periods of intense exertion, with some playing at leisure, and little movement the rest of the time

Thankfully I sit in a chair all day so it's easy to mimic  :P

My inner neanderthal, is unfortunately forced to do a fair bit of walking all day, with occasional heavy lifting. The only sitting I get to do is when the grounds need a mow.  :(

Mmmm...... I'm migrating with the herd? :)

If you want short intense workouts with no gym, then try

http://www.fitness-solution.blogspot.com/

Various daily workouts desigend to be over in 20 minutes.

Possibly a bit too frequent, but you can cycle the intensity.

I'm sure many of you are already aware of this since it's been mentioned on Art's site, but just in case someone is not:

www.crossfit.com is a great source of intense exercise routines.   I "aspire" to getting there some day.
