Bionda's Food Journal
« on: September 27, 2007, 07:58:22 PM »
Since I like reading the other food journals for meal ideas I thought I'd start posting some of mine. This isn't the most exciting day since I've been a bit lazy lately and not been cooking much.

Breakfast
2 boiled eggs
cherries

Lunch
hamburger patty
salad: mixed greens, avocado, tomato
dark bitter chocloate (a little less than an ounce)

Dinner
hamburger patty
asparagus sauteed in olive oil

Snack
TJ Cashew Macademia butter

Yesterday's meals:

Breakfast
berries
almonds

Lunch  (often lunch is leftover's from previous night's dinner)
hamburger patty
asparagus
dark bitter chocolate square

Dinner
Italian sausages
Salad: mixed greens, tomato, Gorgonzola) w/olive oil & balsamic vinegar dressing

Snacks
Clif nectar bar
GJ Cashew Macadamia butter

I'm not a purist and because I love cheese I haven't completely eliminated it though I eat far less than I used to.  I only buy it every 2nd or 3rd week.  I try to buy strong flavored cheeses such as feta or Gorgonzola so that a tiny one ounce serving satisfies my craving.

I also believe that chocolate is essential for women.  :)  I still have a tendency to have the afternoon cravings at work which is due more to boredom and fatigue than true hunger.  If I take my own high quality chocolate it seems to eliminate the craving and keeps me from hitting the overpriced and unhealthy candy machine.

Brunch
Smoothie: coconut milk, berries, whey power, cocoa powder

Dinner
2 large Italian sausages
romaine lettuce (for wrapping sausage)

I didn't eat much today.  The smoothie kept me full for almost the entire day.  I put the recipe in the Recipes and Meal Photos section.

Breakfast
Black raspberries
blueberries
pine nuts

Lunch
italian sausages (2.5)
zucchini/tomato mixture (cooked al dente)
dark bitter chocolate square

Dinner
hamburger patty
spinach (boiled al dente)

Snack
Cashew Macademia nut butter

* In the frozen section, trader joes has black raspberries right now.  I haven't seen these sold in years but they are quite tasty with almost a sage flavor and not real sweet.  The only downside is they aren't organic.

On a side note, most of the fruit I eat is frozen because at least it's already ripe unlike most of the fresh fruit sold here and living in a dry climate I find it nearly impossible to get unripe fruit to ripen properly.  It's not worth the trouble.
