Day 20 (Saturday):

BRUNCH:
4 eggs fried in butter
7 Beef sausages

DINNER:
Salad with oil & vinegar dressing
4 Chicken legs with Parmesan cheese
2 zucchini & 12 oz mushrooms sauteed in olive oil with Kraft Parmesan cheese added

SNACK:
2 oz Pork Rinds

Day 21 (Sunday 1-1-2012)

Hmm... I gained 2 pounds!  :( :( :(  (264)

BRUNCH:
4 chicken legs Parmesan
1 pkg of Steamers veggies

DINNER:
Salad
4 chicken legs Parmesan
3 zucchini & 8 oz mushrooms sauteed in olive oil with Kraft Parmesan cheese

SNACK:
2 bananas

Decided to lay off of the Pork Rinds... I noticed I wasn't hungry while eating them - I was basically grazing.  (Haven't done that since beginning Paleo).

Day 23 (Tuesday)

BRUNCH:
4 fried eggs
7 pieces of beef sausage

DINNER:
Salad
4 Chicken Legs with Parmesan cheese
3 zucchini & 8 oz mushrooms sauteed in olive oil

I know my food diary is boring as hell but it's important for me to stick to easy stuff for at least the first month - I've never really cooked before Paleo.  I have 4 Paleo cookbooks and will get into them when I'm comfortable enough to experiment.

If you're not losing weight you should drop all dairy ie/ the butter and the parmesan.

Plus get in the habit of checking in the ingredients on absolutely everything, you'd be surprised at how many seemingly innocent products contain wheat, soy and processed sugars.
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

Hi Samjohn,  thank you for the info.  I did lose another pound - total of 20.

If I haven't lost more weight by Monday, I'll drop the Parmesan.  I've been using it with my chicken and also on top of the sauteed mushroom & zucchini.

Since I already know today's menu, I'll post it now:

Day 24 (Wed., 03 Jan)
Blood sugar:  118

BRUNCH:
4 Chicken Legs Parmesan
1 pkg Steamers

DINNER:
4 Chicken Legs Parmesan
3 zucchini & 8 oz mushrooms, sauteed in olive oil

Last Friday, I did a mid-week weigh-in because I was sure I'd lost more weight.... well, I'd gained 2 pounds.

Then I read that article (link is somewhere on this site) that showed Paleo was dead last of a bunch of diets.

Well, I began to doubt... and to miss certain foods like my rice pudding.

Last night, it kind of came to a head.  Before going to sleep, I told myself that if I didn't lose  those 2 pounds when weighing in (Mondays are official weigh-in days) then I was going back to Weight Watchers... and my rice pudding.

Well, those 2 pounds are gone plus 1 more - I'm at 260... 21 lbs gone since beginning Paleo.

The difference?  I stopped using Parmesan Cheese on the zucchini & mushrooms.  (I'd used quite a lot).

YAY!

Your blood sugar is looking great and 20+ pounds of weight loss is nothing to sneeze at. Congrats on the year of smoke free.

Yeah it is often hard to accept how even small amounts of dairy can stall weight loss in some people, especially when others do fine with it. It'll be interesting to see what happens once you get through all the chicken and ditch the parmesan altogether.
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

Thanks very much, Samjohn.

BTW, I tried something last night - ate a lot of extra Parmesan cheese on the zucchini & mushrooms in order to test my blood sugar today.  It was 138.  (It's been no more than 110 lately).

Yet another reason to "ditch the Parmesan".
