AdamG's Paleo food journey
« on: January 11, 2013, 02:42:49 AM »
So this journal is about me being externally motivated and seeking feedback from people who have hopefully been there and done that. I've done all the reading I can. My prime motivation for starting this is to hopefully come off of blood pressure meds. I was diagnosed at the age of 22 with high blood pressure. No reason, just have it so start taking drugs. That was 25 years ago and despite getting fit, and dropping weight my BP never changed. Paleo has had positive feedback on metabolic conditions so worth a shot.

I gave myself 2 weeks before Christmas to experiment with the concepts and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. No grains = no bread = no acid reflux or IBS issues. Result.

So here is what I've been eating for the past week. Feedback welcome.

Sounds like you are adjusting to a different balance of macronutrients.  Making sure you eat enough animal fat - for example, fatty steaks - might help.

In general, what you're eating seems right on.  There are a few adjustments you could make - the sweet potato, for example, is a neolithic agricultural crop and thus not paleo.  You might also want to make sure your vegetable korma and curries do not include nonpaleo ingredients like beans, peas, or milk.

Overall it seems like you are on the right track, though.  Sorry about the delayed response - stick with it!
