I went to Hellman's webiste after my last reply and I was surprised to see sugar in the ingredients even though the nutrition label says '0'.

Can I make my own mayo using olive oil?

Of course you can! Olive oil, while not paleo, is better than soybean oil.

You could substitute olive oil with bacon fat, though

Search around for options involving tallow or lard, as well.

Afternoon Snack
Sardines - maybe

Dinner
Locarb Chili with smoked pork - no dairy products or beans

Jonesing for some Jelly Bellys. I was eating 1-2 lbs a week before starting the diet on New Years Day. I have only cheated once last Saturday night with some homemade ice cream with M&Ms added. Once it warms up and I start cycling 200-300 miles a week and running more often, then I am going to start incorporating three cheat meals a week.

You appear to love sardines. I recently found out how good they can be - the local eurpoean grocer sells all sorts of crazy tinned fish. Mackrel, anchovies, sprats, sardines. I've slowly been trying them all and have a stock pile of sardines, anchovies, and tuna in the cabinet. The only thing that keeps me from gorging on them is that my cat will mew me to death until I give her some

Sardines were a recommendation from Robb Wolf's podcast (Paleolithic Solution) as a snack. His podcasts are very informative regarding the paleo diet. They have 13 shows so far. They upload a new one to iTunes every Tuesday.

I listened to the first two, but I didn't really gel with the guy's personality. He seemed too... hmm... what's the word. Aggressive? Meat-headed? Something like that. Like those guys you see in the gym that like to tell you "Yo brah, you should totally be doing kipping pullups" out of the blue. Not my style.

Robb Wolf has a degree in Biochemistry and seems to know his stuff. I am doing this lifestyle more towards sports and to lean out, so that's probably why I "gel" with what he has to say. And he gives you the science behind paleo.
