Confession: Target has these bulk containers full of candy such as Jelly Bellys, Swedish Fish, Aussie Style Licorice, sweet and sour gummie candy, etc. I ate a pound yesterday and a half pound today. The 16-18 hour fasts are saving me from gaining weight. While I was there today, I bought some apples, oranges, and bananas. This should help with the cravings tomorrow. I am fasting from 2pm today to 8am tomorrow morning with a 3-5 mile run before breaking the fast.

Woah. This is why I always come back to the "food addiction" stuff. It's not the diets that matter, it's breaking your habit. You made a conscious choice to fail (by buying the candy in the first place) and then binged.

Don't fail. Smokers can't have "just one" cigarette after they've quit. Likewise, you shouldn't have "just one" piece of candy

Actually, I think I have succeeded by losing almost 30 lbs eating paleo/caveman/primal. I'm 5' 11" and a waist size 30-32. I was only pointing out the reasons for my weight flucuations if anyone was curious. I see that you stopped posting to your food journal. You must have achieved eating paleo/caveman 100% - Congratulations!

But, thanks for the challenge.

Currently, reading Primal Body - Primal Mind by Nora T. Gedgaudas. Excellent book so far. I have read Primal BluePrint, Paleo Diet, Paleo Diet for Athletes, and parts of Good Calories, Bad Calories. Waiting for Paleo Solutions by Robb Wolf releasing next month.

You might consider putting editing the relevant days to include the candy.  It will serve as a better reminer, and make the log more useful to any paleo newbies who are looking for information on what we really eat.

How easy is the early afternoon till next breakfast fast these days? Most find a dinner till late lunch quite a bit easier.
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

How easy is the early afternoon till next breakfast fast these days? Most find a dinner till late lunch quite a bit easier.

I am a writer and I sit at a desk all day in a office. I only get up to use the restroom and fill my water bottle. As you might imagine, it can be boring at times. I can't go all day without thinking about food. 1:00pm is as long as I can stand it. I get home about 6:30pm and I do about an hour of chores. I sit down to either watch the Tampa Bay Rays or watch an HBO series. I'll have a glass of red wine about 8-10 ounces. It works for me.

My runner/cycling carb friends can't believe that I can fast for 16-20 hours and then run a 4 mile fast (7:30 pace) training run. I run so much better in a fasted state.

Sometimes, I start to have second thoughts about fasting so much, but my body has adapted to it and it's not affecting my performance. So, why not? I take it day by day.

Also, I like to eat some protein and veggies after a run at 8am.

Well one look at your results says it is working for you.
