I reckon once ive lost the fat ill add some diary, but until then its strict Paleo.

Still havent really lost weight, gained some muscle from Crossfit though.. my muscles are hating me right now! and my back- those chin ups are killer (or in my case 'jump ups' as i dont quite have the strength yet :)

Well, if you added muscle and did not lose weight, you've actually lost fat. That should be your goal, to lose body fat, not lose weight.

On Crossfit: it has been said to induce too much stress on some people. Stress = cortisol = lack of fat loss and lack of muscle gains.

The exercises proposed in crossfit are usually useful (and that's why the glass half-full crowd accepts crossfit). The problem is that the programming is usually flawed in many ways, from targetting dangerous behaviour (rhabdo) to not allowing for proper recovery.

Il Capo - Im actually not weighing myself, my clothes have gotten slightly tighter, not a good sign, means ive gained  :-\

So the last 2 days have not been so good. Went out Wednesday night because of a public holiday on Thursday and drank lots of sugary drinks- still ate paleo though.

Yesterday - 26.1.12

BBQ for australia day.
Throughout day - chicken thigh skewers with veggies and some lamb chops and roast veggies.

Couple of cocktails in the evening.

Back on track today!!

Breakfast - raw coconut flesh
               Coffee with coconut milk

Lunch - tin of salmon in salad

Dinner - not sure yet, either chicken thigh or lamb chops leftover from the BBQ.

The biggest issue I see with your food diary is a large reliance on vegetable fat sources, coconut in a big way.

Also, depends on where your clothes got tighter. If it was around the waist then yeah, not good. That is not very common on Paleo though.

You're right samjohn - its just easier. Im going to try having red meat 3 times a week, or at least for breakfast and dinner, and cutting out the coconut products except for when cooking.

My waist and legs have grown- time to cut down on meal sizes and snacking I think. I'm really loving Crossfit, my instructor isnt too intense so I go a bit easier- I had life threatening surgery 3 1/2 months ago so need to be careful, especially because I was bed ridden for 2 of those months and lost all my muscles.

So I havnt posted for a while due to being slightly slack.

Yesterdays food diary-

Breakfast - Lamb hamburger patties, mushrooms and spinach

Lunch - not hungry

Dinner - Lamb chops with salad and some glasses of red wine and some cider (had guests over)

At around 11 I was hungry again so i had some of the leftover salad. Thought I would stay full after the lamb! maybe I needed to eat more..

I totally agree with samjohn and I think your menu is looking better - now you are having meat and veggies instead of cream substitutes lol

avelin - I definitely slowly improving on paleo constantly. I used to have sweetener substitutes like diet sodas and sugar free lollies but ive come off those completely, then I have having a lot of coconut products but slowly coming off those- I still like my iced coconut milk coffee to get me through the morning at work though  :-\

Food diary 30.1.12

Breakfast/morning tea - Bowl of blackberries and raspberries
                                   - Coconut milk iced coffee
                                   - Small salad

Lunch                           - Leafy green salad, tomatos, avocado and a tin of salmon

Dinner                          - Beef hamburger patties
                                    - Brussel sprouts, carrots and broccoli.

An hour after dinner I was slightly hungry again, I only had 2 beef patties so thats probably why, I stuffed myself full of veggies. I had 4 slices of smoked salmon and was really full then.

Sounds like you're getting the hang of it. Meat is the answer :)

Food Diary - 31.1.12

Morning tea - Coffee with coconut milk

Dinner           - I had a Crossfit class and wasnt actually that hungry after, but I made meatballs in marinara sauce with zucchini and some fried green capsicum in butter and chilli. I ate some because I knew id get hungry later on.


Question: does eating more omega 6's (say grain fed meat) impact on weight loss?

So today I was not very hungry at all! I had 2 nectarines and a handful of blueberries for morning tea and my coffee with coconut milk.

Lunch - Not hungry

Dinner - Did a Crossfit class (2ks of running mehhh) and I was very hungry afterwards!
           - 5 lamb cutlets coated in middle eastern spices and fried up
           - Cabbage with onion and bacon fried in a saucepan (amazing) with a tbl organic butter (have run out of ghee!)

Im starting to drink water throughout the day, so I am hydrated enough for Crossfit, but it is making me quite bloated and full, too full to eat! Is that a good or a bad thing?

Today (2.2.12) I had some meatballs in marinara for breakfast and my usual coconut milk drink. I then had my usual salad with salmon for lunch, even thought i wasnt hungry hungry, i thought i should eat something, and every time after lunch I feel reaaally tired and lethargic. Should I just not eat or is this a normal response? I do crossfit everynight so I feel like i should be eating.. Its pretty annoying because Im at work and feel like i could go to sleep!

Went out for Indian last night and I had spiced lamb and tandoori chicken, it was a big meal and yet when I came home I was still hungry. I had some of my leftover dinner from the night before which was cabbage/bacon and 2 lamb cutlets.

When I eat once a day, I end up having 2 dinners and messing up my routine a bit: let's say I fast all day (since the previous night). By 6 - 7pm I'm starving so I eat. There's so much I can eat in 1 sitting, so after a while I stop. A couple hours later, I feel hungry again, and eat some more of what I cooked or start messing around with fruit, nuts, or other paleo snacks.

This is probably consistent with paleo practices: hunt, eat until you are full, rest, then eat some more and go to sleep, but it's slightly inconvenient with modern routines.
