It was definitely difficult for me to kick the diet soda habit, but I did eventually do it. Now it tastes absolutely terrible to me. I used to drink that stuff by the gallon!

What I drink now is a lot of plain sparkling water. It's fizzy and makes me feel special. I add a little orange or grape juice to it if I want something that's kinda like soda, but now I mostly drink it plain. You can even get it in cans; it's very festive that way and feels like a treat to me. :)

I also adore iced tea with no sweetener in it, so I sometimes buy those at fast food places if it's brewed -- I think Nestea is nasty. Also I recycled a couple of my 2 liter sparkling water bottles and used them for sun tea -- I just stuffed a couple green tea bags through the neck of the bottle and left it on my balcony.

That's a good idea, I'll look for that when I go to the store.  It is so hard to break that habit.  I've been able to substitute tea in the morning - I make it with clover honey and 1 drop of stevia liquid.  It is pretty good and actually is smoother and easier to drink than soda.  :-)

I bet you feel a lot better now without the chemicals in soda, right?

Today - I still have had 4 cans.  I don't seem to be making progress in reducing yet, but I'm sure I will!

Ya know, I don't think the idea of the chemicals bothered me so much until I really broke the habit and then tasted a diet coke again. It just tasted TERRIBLE. I could TASTE the artificialness of it. I drank about half the can and couldn't drink any more. It was just nauseating.

For the sparkling water, it's not always by the soda. You sometimes have to go by the liquor aisle, so keep that in mind. :) DO IT. You will feel so much better.

Hey - I just visited your blog.  That is very interesting and I love the recipe section.  I've experimented with the SCD and found that when I follow, I do feel better.

How ya been doing for the past few days??

I am addicted to diet soda too, but I've been finding it easier to limit myself lately.  Mostly because the stuff with aspartame has been making my face hurt more and more often, and the stuff with splenda makes my chest feel tight.  That just ain't right.

I am down to one cup of coffee and one diet soda per day.

The seltzer suggestion is a great one!  My hubby drinks seltzer all day long.  we went through so much of it we actually bought a home seltzer making machine.  Anyway, he likes to dilute 100% cranberry juice in a liter of seltzer and have it as a kind of spritzer.  It's pretty darn good that way, and if you want it a little sweet you can add some stevia.

Whilst I was 'off the wagon' the past couple of weeks I went back to drinking several mugs of coffee, plus 1 or 2 Cola's a day.

This week I have switched them for Green Tea, which seriously reduces my caffeine intake, but not so much that it brings on the headaches and muscle pains I get if I go 'Cold Turkey'! :)

I've sort of fallen off the wagon a little.  I'll have a good day, followed by a day of bingeing to make up for it. GRRR!!!  I need to resupply myself with seltzer!!

I love green tea.  I've been good at keeping some tea made, but sometimes, the sodas find their way into the glass.  I think the headaches/body aches are worst, don't you?  I can deal with the change of soda to water, but those lack of caffeine headaches are killer!!!!
