Hmmm... that's hard to say but I would expect less than 4 hours and hopefully closer to 3.5.  But the Olympic length would not be until next fall since I'm still building base right now.  I started running in January; and have only been triathlon training for a few months.  I did a super sprint last month and have two more coming up.  Everything needs improvement but I really need to gain strength/speed on the bike.  I'm using a hybrid, but hope to get a road bike this winter.  Maybe that will help.

I get up every day at 4 a.m. and out the door with my dog by 4:20 for a uick wake up/warm up walk around the block.. usually have a cup of coffee before heading out.

Run and swim alternate mornings.  Runs start at 4:50 a.m. and vary in length.  I'm currently in the 6 mile range and working towards a half marathon on December 12.  Swims start at 5:40 a.m. for one hour.  Breakfast afterwards is usually 3 eggs scrambled with broccoli or spinach, or 3 eggs fried with salmon or leftover meat.

Bike and strength (hand weights) alternate evenings and start at 6:30 p.m.

I've done a few mountain bike trails and they were trecherous!  I came out of those woods bruised and scaped from flipping over the handle bars!  lol  But it was fun!

How many dogs do you have?  I would love to see Idaho.  I can only imagine how beautifuul it must be with it's mountains and wilderness.  I spent some time living in Alaska and sure did love it there.

My suggestion- have a hardboiled egg and a banana asap after waking before dog walk.
After training meal of protein and a low fiberous carb for faster glycogen replacement. That will speed recovery for p.m. training. As well as protein and low fiber carb after p.m. training for same reason. Good research on these articles.

What exercises do you do with the hand weights (dumbbells?)?
A road bike will be immeasurably beneficial!

Mountain biking on a hybrid? On the east coast? Sure formula for disaster  :D. Crazy girl!

I have two dogs, Wilson the wolfdog and Maximus the Alaskan Inuit dog. There are pictures of them on my training thread. Idaho is beautiful!!!!!! Of course I think where I live is the most beautiful! Not quite like Alaska!

What kind of dog do you have?

Oh no, no, no! I have a mountain bike too.. albiet a Walmart special! LOL

I've read similar info on the importance of eating something first in the morning, so I guess I should get into the habit.  I'd be good with a hard boiled egg and banana or cantaloupe.  I'll add that too shopping list.

I did make homemade mayo today using the flax oil recipe that was recommended in the Paleo for Athletes book.  But I probably won't buy flax oil again, it's quite expensive anyway.  I also made a batch of guacomole so I'll get more avocado into my diet.

I looked up the photos for your dogs; they are lovely!  I've read quite a few of your journal entries but want to spend some time going through your progress; you're journals are quite interesting and helpful.  I need to go through other people's journals too for a few different perspectives.

My dog is an ugly little gorilla looking dog that came from a shelter.

9/7/09

2 oz walnuts
granny smith apple
coffee w/ stevia
salmon fillet/olive oil w/ 2 over medium eggs
1/3 jar of almond butter (here we go again)
1 meatball
tea w/ stevia
leftover pork roast
big bowl of homemade guacomole (ate it like pudding)

YMCA was closed for Labor Day so no swim today.  Legs are a little sore from yesterday's bike, so I'll just do some upper body hand weights and abs this evening.

No such thing as an ugly rescue dog  ;). Ugly is the new cute anyway.

My pups are are rescues too. Max was in a shelter and Wilson was being kept in a 4X6 horse stall  >:(. He was unmanageable and no one wanted him. A friend of mine rescued him from being euthanized and asked me if I could keep him for a weekend.  ;)

Flax oil is really costly! Might as well eat something in it's natural state like avocado, walnuts or salmon.

A "Walmart special"  :o I think you might be safer on your hybrid!  ;) :D.

It makes me SO angry when people abuse or neglect animals.  >:(  Yours are lucky they found you.  :)

And yes, I had a rude awakening on the flax oil.  I had no idea.  I couldn't find it so the lady helped me and we got to talking, she handed it to me and kept on talking all the way back to the cash register.  I hadn't realized the price until she rang it up and I went into shock!!!!   :o  Won't be buying that again for sure.

I think I'd like to make an avocados and banana pudding and make walnut butter to have with my fruit.  I could make walnut milk and add avacodo and banana to make a smoothie, maybe blueberries... now that sounds good.

I read the two sites you told me.  Very informative.  I don't work out quite that hard, but I do see the importance of before and after nutrition.

9/9/09

coffee w/ stevia
1/2 granny smith apple
hard boiled egg

Swam 2050 yards

3 eggs scrambled w/ asparagus/olive oil
2 oz walnuts
1/2 granny smith apple
tea w/ stevia
leftover pork roast, A LOT!
lettuce salad w/ guacomole
protein powder (don't know why; it was in my office and I consumed it)
egg and lemon soup (2 eggs)
tea w/ stevia

I'm gaining weight.  Slowly but surely.  I think my portions are just too much.  And I feel fat and bloated.  Something making me retain fluid?  I would blame the fruit, but I've only been having one a day most days.  I may need to go back to food logging.  >:(

I feel like a meat and egg fast is in order. I always feel better and more balanced after a few days of just meat and eggs.  I have a Triathlon this Saturday, so I'll wait until next week to do the fast.

9/10/09

hard boiled egg
1/2 granny smith apple

run 6.25 miles

protein powder drink

pork roast w/ 2 over medium eggs

tea w/ stevia
1/2 granny smith apple

fresh spinach w/ guacomole
tuna salad

hamburger patty
lettuce
tea w/ stevia
lettuce

egg and lemon soup (2 eggs)
tea w/ stevia

I had the protein powder drink because I was running late and wanted to get in some quick protein.  I hope to come up with a good post workout smoothie recipe.  I'm thinking about making walnut milk and adding a raw egg and a half banana or something along those lines.

I had a meeting that included lunch today.  I knew that they were having breaded processed chicken patties, so I ate my spinach and tuna in my office before heading over.  I ate the hamburger patty and lettuce mostly just to be social.  I truly did not want anything else they offered.  Glad I ate before I went over.

Wow... is there anything better than a salmon fillet with 2 over medium eggs on top for breakfast?

I thik I could eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

And next week, I think I will.  I've got a couple of extra pounds hanging around that need to go.

I was away all weekend for a Triathlon, so I've lost track of my eating.  I did good with a few exceptions.  I had some cheese.  I forgot and put cream and splenda in my coffee one time at a restaurant just out of habit.  And I drank way too much after the Triathlon was over.  Throughout the day I had four Michelob Ultras and a half a bottle of wine!  :o  Otherwise, I had steak, salmon, chicken, eggs, broccoli, walnuts, Lara bar, banana; that's all I remember.  And I did have a protein powder drink the morning of the Tri.

I'm up a few pounds and have been a bit bloated, so I'm going to join Marika for meat and eggs this week!  She reminded how good it feels.

So far today I've had

Coffee w/ stevia
2 eggs scrambled with a can of tuna fish/oilve oil

I have a big ole leftover steak to gnaw on at lunch time and a couple of hard boiled eggs for whenever.

And I think I will have salmon and eggs for dinner!

I hate to admit this, but I "think".... could it be true that I prefer salmon and eggs over steak and eggs!!!  :o  Oh, the horror of it!  I love over medium eggs with any kind of meat.

I met a friend last night for dinner and had.... guess what?  Steak AND Salmon, and broccoli and salad.

Today

coffee w/ stevia
salmon and 3 over medium eggs/olive oil (wow, I didn't realize how much salmon I eat until I started writing it down)
leftover prime rib steak
2 harb boiled eggs

Likely have egg and lemon soup for dinner.

I'm now joining Marika for meat only (well, meat and eggs for me).  Reading her post reminded me how good it feels and I've been bloated lately.
