Mr Luvpants food diary-please critique!
« on: October 11, 2011, 04:07:19 AM »
I have been doing paleo for about  month now and I have not lost any weight!I have also started crossfitting as well. So someone on here suggested that I start a food diary and welcome comments. I am about 224 pounds and am 6 ft tall. I am 44 years old (on saturday ;D)

10th October
Breakfast:Advocado smoothie (made with coconut milk, 1 x advocado and 2 x Tbsp honey)
Lunch: Omelette (3 x eggs, bacon, brocolli) cooked in EVO
Dinner: Curry (beef, spices, coconut milk)

During the day I had quite a few cups of tea with milk added

11th October
Breakfast:Advocado smoothie (made with coconut milk, 1 x advocado and 2 x Tbsp honey)
Lunch: tin of mackerel, 3 x hard boiled eggs
Dinner: Fish and salad

and cups of tea again.

Critique away!

JOHN

Today started off good:Breakfast:Advocado smoothie (made with coconut milk, 1 x advocado and 2 x Tbsp honey)

But then it went to rat sh*T as I had left my lunch at home and ended up with a six inch from Subways!

BBQ at work where I had bread!

Back on the wagon tomorrow. Promise!

Hi John - My advice is to drop the honey for the moment and start your day with some fatty meat and eggs fried in tallow. More fat!

I agree with reducing or dropping the honey, and having a solid breakfast in place of the smoothie might help.  Make sure you don't give in to any cravings for other sweets.

Today 13/10/11

I skipped brekkie as I got up late and so had a bacon (with no fat trimmed off) onion and 3 egg omelette.
Dinner was a curry (no rice) that I cooked myself. The ingredients were chicken, spices, EVOO, peppers, onion, garlic and coconut cream.

I am going struggle getting Tallow here (OZ) so bought some lard today.

JOHN

PS thanks for the advice so far guys.

Ask your butcher for some fat - especially from around the kidneys - and make your own tallow. Beef or lamb/sheep fat should be available in Oz.

If you buy lard from the store, just make sure it's not hydrogenated.

absolutely drop the honey.  2 tbsp is a fair about of sugar and when you combine it will all the fat...well ;)

If you are going to have any sugar, get it from fruit, and eat the fruit on it's own rather than combined with fatty things

MEAT is the breakfast of kings ;)
Sugar addiction kills more people than all other kinds of drugs combined

If your food needs a prefix, it's not paleo!

Well it was my birthday at the weekend and we had a cocktail party, so nuff said!

Yesterday I had the Advocado smoothie as time was pressing.

Lunch was a home made meat curry with Coconut cream and beef as the main ingredient.

Dinner was prawns and salad.

Just checked the scales and I have put on weight and I am really wondering if Paleo is for me?????
