Paleo Challenge
« on: January 02, 2012, 01:40:34 AM »
So my gym is doing a challenge from Jan 9- Feb 9.  I'm getting a head start and started yesterday, on the first.  I've been a really naughty paleo-eater the past few weeks so I really *need* this.  We are using the guidelines from whole9life.com.  It's pretty strict but there are some things that conflict a little with this board but oh well.  Food critique is welcome!

1.1.12

To-go cup black coffee (about the size of 2 small mugs)
To-go cup black tea
2 To-go cup green tea
.5 rotisserie chicken (unsure of origin!)
3 eggs- free range
4 pieces nitrate free bacon
.5 avocado
small handful sliced black olives
small salad with olive oil/vinegar, .5 avocado, small handful sliced black olives

1.2.12

to-go cup black coffee
curry turkey and mixed vegetable stir fry (i'll be honest, not sure the sauce was 100%)
dinner is cooking- 3 free range eggs and 5 pieces nitrate free bacon

Went to the gym tonight like a good girl.  Finished the workout somewhere under 21 minutes. It was:
50 squats
run 400m
40 situps
run 400m
30 pushups
run 400m
20 pullups
run 400m
10 burpees

Pushups were on knees and pull-ups were band assisted.  First day back in the gym for a few weeks! This will hurt tomorrow....

It's a can of chicken breast chunks in water.  It's 12.5 ounces but I don't know how much of that is the water.  Lunch is difficult because I eat at work and at home my available cooking options are a slow cooker or a raclette grill that is a pain in the ass to clean (I don't have a kitchen).  Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to come up with something better than chicken in a can... too hard to add fat!

1.7.12
black coffee
4 hardboiled eggs, handful cherry tomatoes
4 pieces nitrate free bacon
1/2 cup zucchini strips in pesto
1/2 cup fennel salad
bowl of pork with parsnips (1.5 cup?)

Gym:
We did Team "Murph"
team of 4 people
Run 1600m (as a team) then complete:
200 pull ups
400 pushups
600 squats
Run 1600m as a team
We completed it in 39:50

I don't know how many pull ups, pushups, and squats that I did but I think the second run was the most painful because I'm sooooooo S L O W !

Look at portable electric (or gas) hotplates or camping stove. Get something with 2 burners.

A dutch oven will let you bake on your hotplate/camping stove.

1.8.12
black coffee
tons of peppermint tea (it was cold outside!!!)
2 boiled eggs, handful cherry tomatoes
plate of zucchini pesto, fennel salad, and pork/parsnips
another serving of pork/parsnips because I was starving....
piece of creamed coconut

Gym Rest Day

I've thought about getting an electric burner but I'm stalled on the idea because I don't know how long I'm going to stay here (in Germany) and don't want to be bombarded with loads of 220v equipment.  So far my little raclette grill is doing alright but it's a pain in the ass to clean.  I made some cinnamon pork with parsnips and it is really, really good!  And it didn't leave my room smelling bad like several weeks ago when I made cabbage...  :o  I think I'm officially done cooking cabbage... ever!
