Yet another day with renewed Warrior Diet style fasting. I felt a little light headed while taking the train home after work. I was hungry at the time, but it worried me. I'll see how the rest of the week pans out.

However, I also failed a tad yesterday with some chips...

Tues, Feb 2, 2010
All amounts approximate
Weight: 184.4lbs

Meal
Time: 7:00 pm
3"x12" skirt steak
1/4c pinto beans
1c cactus salad (not sure what kind of cactus it was)
3tbsp re-fried beans
1.5c guacamole
15-20 corn chips (egads!! :/)

Later
1c merlot
1c grass fed whole milk
2tbsp rosehip jam

I listed your non paleo foods below. You probably know but since you only mentioned the chips I thought I'd chime in just in case.

Non paleo:

1/4c pinto beans
3tbsp re-fried beans
15-20 corn chips (egads!! :/)
1c merlot

Aye, I am aware, but I personally consider them fine (though beans are iffy). I tend not to think like a pre-language caveman, and more like a "primitive" hunter gatherer. Lots of these societies consumed dairy (though, not in milk form - butters and cheeses) and beans and the like. Basically, I'm more lax than most people in that I feel if it was eaten like 5000 years ago, it's probably ok.

The chips, however...

Lest you think I'm cheating, I bumped my little weight graphic up to 195 "starting weight". I was, at one point, 195, but I do not recall when, so I have no input data for it

5000 years ago means you can eat bread and chips.

The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

5000 years ago is definitely neolithic - not paleo by any stretch.  By that rule, you could eat rice, bread and pasta.

Hey, I said "like" 5000 years ago. I don't know much ancient timelines. I like to think of native americans, inuits, mongolians, and peoples like that rather than cavemen. Still, I try not to eat beans as much as possible (I even stopped eating peanuts), but I don't consider them bad. Some of these peoples regularly consumed butter and cheeses as well.

Hmm big weight difference today. This whole week I've been doing the warrior-diet style 20ish hour fast + big night time meals. I don't think that I'm getting my entire caloric needs in one meal, so it's possible I may be deficient. But, I feel great throughout the day. Enough to keep doing this, for a little bit at least.

Thurs, Feb 4, 2010
All amounts approximate
Weight: 182.4lbs

Meal
Time: 7:30 pm
3.5 eggs (yeah one of them missed the pan. saved the yolk and some of the white though)
+ 2tbsp coconut oil
3 medium carrots
10 strips of beef jerky (2"x8")
1 banana
1c coconut milk
+ cocoa powder
+ cinnamon
+ water and ice

Sat & Sun, Feb 6-7, 2010
All amounts approximate
Weight: 184.4lbs

I didn't record anything this saturday and sunday. For two reasons: I was at my girlfriend's apartment most of the time, taking care of her because she was sick, and I took saturday off from the fasting thing (I figure I might as well keep my body guessing)

What I Do Remember...Totaled
4 medium chicken skewers (left overs)
1 banana
1 small chunk cheddar cheese
20-25 pieces of beef jerky (the last of it)
2c raisins
1/4c sunflower seeds
2c whole milk

Oops...
~2c left over pad thai (rice noodles...)
4 chocolate chip cookies
2-3 handfuls of microwave popcorn

Mon, Feb 8, 2010
All amounts approximate
Weight: 184.6lbs

Back to all-day fasting again. A bit annoying today, probably because of the combo of grazing all weekend and getting some heftier carbs in there (cookies, popcorn, pad thai...).

I've also started chewing on cinnamon sticks... it helps kill off the hunger, and it's apparently good for insulin resistance and metabolism and things like that.

I've also switched to having only one cup of coffee a day (in the morning, at home). This has the added benefit of saving me $2 a day.

Meal
Time: 7:30 pm
1lb grass fed ground beef
2 eggs
4 half-inch slices of beef summer sausage
2oz can anchovies (blegh!)
2c steamed cauliflower
1 medium carrot

Note: anchovies in bulk are like chewing on wax with bits of bone in it

You can roast your own coffee cheaper using a corn popper. The corn popper needs to have the the vents on the side. You can buy your "green" coffee here: www.ccmcoffee.com I buy it by the 25lb box. Here are the directions and the type of corn popper: http://sweetmarias.com/airpop/airpopmethod.php.

Here is a forum dedicated to home roasting: http://coffeegeek.com/forums/coffee/homeroast

I have been roasting my own coffee for about six years. I roast and grind my own coffee within 30 minutes. You can't get it any fresher. You can save lots of money and impress your friends.

Ah no, I meant at Dunkin Donuts. I ride the train to work, and my regular schedule was to pop in and get a (black) coffee every morning. Work coffee is free.

Tues, Feb 9, 2010
All amounts approximate
Weight: 183.8lbs

So I actually moved a little this morning. I did a small set of 10 burpies and some basic yoga that I remember. I typically haven't felt very good in the mornings.

I wonder if this is related to me taking magnesium supplements at night.

Meal
Time: 7:30 pm
4 eggs
+ 1.5oz anchoives
+ some cilantro
1 can (5oz) tuna
8 half-inch slices of beef summer sausage
1 medium carrot
0.5c coconut milk
2 clementines
1 tangerine
