Well here goes, I'm fully immersed in the Paleo W.O.E... There are a couple things I really can't give up like hot sauce and olive oil, but I've dropped the rest of the night shades and the other no-no items completely. Thanks for those of you who are reading this, any advice is welcome ESPECIALLY constructive criticism.  I'm still learning.

I'm gonna start with yesterday.
It was an I.F. day so I drank water all day long along in preparation for my big meal.
Supper consisted of a huge fatty pork steak I cooked liberally in coconut oil and a slab of salmon that I poached in the oven with lemon and pepper and then doused in olive oil.

Today I had leftover pork for breakky, chopped up and cooked with eggs, yellow onion and coconut oil.
Tonight I will have home-made chili with lots of veg, ground beef, salt-free, naturally wood-smoked bacon and mushrooms galore.

I have a feeling this food log is going to turn into a paleo journal of sorts..
People definitely have an odd interpretation of what this lifestyle entails. I don't really understand why I get a hard time for excluding the foods that everyone knows are bad for us.
Screw it, I'm over half way to this month's weight goal and I'm feeling great.. I also have the runs, but I'm sure I'll get over it soon. (I know, too much info. Whatever.)

Last night I had a chicken breast grilled with coconut oil and two extra fatty burger patties with cumin. . I also ate a massive helping of salad with freshly cooked, unsalted ham. It was an IF day, so I made sure I ate a LOT. I need to find some recipies for paleo salad dressing and need some tricks on how to get more fat into my diet.

I guess you saw the digestive problem thread?  Salt send me running to the can.  Every now and then I still get a bit loose, but I'm yet to figure out what the cause is...

To get more fat in your diet, try using lard for cooking.  You can buy it sometimes, or make your own.  It's great to cook with and you can add extra to make things more fatty  ;D.  I much prefer it to coconut oil as a 'paleo' ingredient.

I cook bacon is plenty of lard and then make scrambled eggs in the fat that's left over.  Its great!

Pork belly is also fantastic to eat and full of fat.  We slice it thin and cook it on the BBQ.

Thanks man, you're full of good advice.. It's pretty hard to find bacon without tons of salt added, but I'll try. The lard is a really good idea, I'll pick some up on Monday. Thanks again, great stuff.

So I've heard about artificial sweeteners causing insulin spikes as a reaction to the sweet taste, and although I'm definitely not a fan of sweet drinks I decided to do a little experiment..
Yesterday was an IF day, so I drank water all day and for supper I ate chicken breast and pork steak cooked in fat with 3 eggs. I made sure I got 0g of carbs, and added NO salt or extra sauces which *always* lowers my numbers on the scale the following morning.. The difference was I drank water with 2 packets of "Crystal Light" (So quite strong).. This morning I woke up, checked the scale and I'd gained 2 lbs. Coincidence?.. I don't know for sure (I ain't no brain scientist) but I think not. I'll be sticking with water, black coffee and homemade green smoothies for my liquid needs.

It's pretty hard to find bacon without tons of salt added, but I'll try.
In Australia, 'normal' bacon has about 1500mg/kg (1.5%) or so.  We now get a bacon from our butcher that is 296mg (0.3%) and we still find it a bit salty (as we don't add salt to anything).  I don't know if you can find anything like that where you are?

Artificial sweeteners 'shouldn't' cause insulin spikes (I don't know this for sure), but they definitely do cause some reactions and seem to continue sugar addictions.  I'm still a bit scared of them though (aspartame has been linked to brain embolisms) and I refuse to have them.

If you buy lard - just make sure it has no transfats (isn't hydrogenated).  Lard should be sort of squishy (like butter) at  fridge temperature.  If it is rock hard then it has been hydrogenated and I would avoid it...

When I was a kid (1962) my grandmother cooked in lard.  It would be in the refrigerator section of the store.  I think it came in a red box.  Now, I see lard on the shelf in a can like Crisco or other shortening.  I know most of the stuff I have seen on the shelf not refrigerated is hydrogenated.

Aha!.. I went out and found a massive bucket of non-hydrogenated lard.. Now I'm wondering what the hell I should cook with it..

Tonight I just chopped a nice big fatty piece of beef into pieces and sauteed it in a scoop of lard with mushrooms and onions!.. For dessert I had a bowl of cold fresh blueberries and some strawberries. MMMMMM shizznitobam!

huntress, I know!.. Steak is retarded good.

Ok, so this week is going well.. I've been introducing more fat into my diet and any hunger pangs have started to dissipate.. I'm going to be going on vacation for a week starting Saturday so I won't be posting in here but I'll be sticking to the plan.. I'll come back on and let aaallll my eager readers (hahahaha) in on what I've been up to.. Probably a lot of swimming and getting back to the wild. Friggin' RAAWRR!

Last night I had hamburger patties with garlic and onions and a side of bacon. I also had a big salad with cayenne, lots of EVOO and some organic smoked oysters. God damnit that was good.

You know, I was thinking yesterday about how all these low carb diets came about and how well they work for a lot of people.. I've come to realize it's because they're taking steps toward what our bodies *want* us to eat! Paleo!.. We're built this way and our bodies thrive on it, heal faster, get stronger, are less hungry, and have more energy.  This is truly becoming a lifestyle for me, and I'm starting to think about how I can apply it to my life in different ways.
I think I'm going to take up rock climbing as a physical and mental workout too. Any rock climbers out there that can give me some advice on how to get started?.. I'm a quick learner.

Well the family and I just tried to go on vacation, and without getting into it too far it was a complete f#%&ing disaster.. I've got lots of goals to achieve and I've given myself a date for each of them. January 2010, I will be at my goal weight. No more dicking around, I'm gonna have to consistently drop significant numbers. I plan to move my wife and kids to the place she loves the most in the world by March, 2011 and open my own shop where I'll be putting up all of my artwork for sale as well as 'grinding it out' on a daily basis.

I had a food breakdown for one day while I was gone and I ate a bunch of stupid crap that made me feel terrible and dried out for 2 days afterwards.. Other than that, I've been on eggs, bacon, ground beef, steak, chicken, small salads and a little fruit for the rest of the time..
I'm still having trouble eating nuts. Almonds seem to be the type that taste the best but still totally unsatisfying for me.
Goals for now:
1. No more of these bullshit "open meals". All they do is give me justification for being weak and not making this lifestyle work for me.
2. I will lose 20lbs by the end of July.

Good on you.  Get stuck in and reap the rewards  ;D

At least you know why to avoid the trash food now.  There's nothing more motivating than feeling rotten after doing it.

Almonds have the most carbs and that is why they taste the best to some.  I prefer brazil nuts.  If you can't get into eating nuts, then don't.  I don't think anyone HAS to eat nuts.

Thanks man.. I know that nuts aren't a necessity, but they're such a good source of fat and something I'd be able to munch on during the day if I get hungry.. I'll give brazil nuts a try.

Also, I just used almond meal to "bread" a chicken breast with basil, garlic and onion powder and it tasted AMAZING. I think there'll be a lot I can do with it in the future.

Yea man! Put the hammer down!  ;D
100% Paleo is the only way to go! The words I find to describe how good I feel don't even scratch the surface of the reality of it.
