Lamb, domestic, loin, separable lean and fat, trimmed to 1/4" fat, choice, raw   336   g   1041.6
Beef, rib, shortribs, separable lean and fat, choice, raw   336   g   1303.7

So yesterday with just two meals  lunch and dinner i ate 2300 calories of which the majority was from fat, the rest protein and no carbs.

Someone here said no need to count calories andI don't feel i ate a lot yesterday.

an 8/12 oz steak and about 10 ozs of lamb chops both fried in goose fat.

Is this a reason I am not losing weight?

Rentawitch, you have been on Paleo since Jan 7th, basically 6 weeks. In that time you have lost 18 pounds (8kg). This means you have lost more than a kilogram (3lb) exactly for each week you have been on this diet and I think everyone would agree that is a good amount to lose per week.I think you need to look at it like that, rather than per week as overall weight loss is the goal is it not?

Your weight loss may have stalled for you, but at the moment that could be partly due to inaccurate scales. If this continues for another few weeks, then we can explore options such as lowering carbs, lowering calories, upping the exercise, even a 24 hour fast might be a good idea. Other ideas would be to see where your glucose/insulin levels are at, and explore cortisol and how we might be able to lower it (as you just came off a very stressful period, and the body does not just bounce back instantly).

On a side note, this thread is why I do not think counting calories is important:

The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

Hey Samjohn Thankyou
I am sorry I am so impatient!

You don't think I should worry about the lack of  Vitamin C then?

I still don't have the energy I would like and get a real tired dip in the afternoon.

I have however, found the MOST AMAZING butcher about 15 mins away from me. Having been down there and seen what they do and will do, I can order and have delivered for free.

All is organic, free range, grass fed. I can buy both beef fat and lard from there and when I asked about the fat composition of the ground beef the chap actually minced me a piece to order :)

I bought rib, rib-eye, lamb loin chops, Pork belly, ground beef, a veal t-bone and green bacon with no nitrates. They carry game such as venison, rabbit, partridge, pheasant as well. All the chickens are free range and a good dark colour. I have been off chicken for some time as most of it is so bl**dy tasteless but I will try theirs!

Based on Dean's testimony, I will carry on and see what happens :)

Not sure what cortisol is.... but hey!

Thanks for the feedback.

I wouldn't waste a second thinking about forum karma, check out how much negative karma Warren Dew has managed to amass, and yet he is easily one of the most valuable members of the forum.

Cortisol is a very interesting hormone, which gets its naughty little fingers into a lot of bodily functions, one of which is weight gain, specifically around the abdomen. Actually it would probably be worth your while learning a little about it, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cortisol#Effects     http://stress.about.com/od/stresshealth/a/cortisol.htm

thank you.
I have read both those links. A lot of the things they mention could be down to high cortisol. the foggy thinking the weight gain, the tiredness.

Not really the right person to take up yoga or meditation.
I see some reference to a cream. But I would prefer to get there just with exercise and eating right. Do you think that is possible?

I do appreciate you taking all this trouble.

The negative feedback does bother me I'm afraid. I'm just made that way.
It would be better if people would actually say what they consider I did wrong.
But so be it.

Yeah, I hate it when people smite.

Usually the reasons why people do it are bad advice or thread hijacking.

Since the smiters are too CHICKEN to be DIRECT with me, I CHOOSE to believe that they meant to APPLAUD me but hit the smite button on accident.  :D  Yeah! +9!

I only smite trolls and direct attacks. You have to really have it coming.

I have been only eating when I'm hungry, finish when I'm sated; and my regimen looks a lot like yours above.

EDIT: Actually, I looked at my cron-o-meter and its like I eat 100% of my calories some days and 30-50% of them other days. I don't do it intentionally, it just happens that way.

Well that sounds good Lone_wolf thank you :)
I must admit the meat from this new butcher is so amazing that I am being greedy.

I shall probably have quite a few carbs tomorrow. I am having lunch with a dear friend who is rather elderly and apart from saying I don't eat tomatoes or cheese and don't drink alcohol, she could give me anything. I won't have much. I'll fill up on a good paleo breakfast before I go. :)

I shall carry on eating the meat and very little carbs.

Wish I could invite some of you guys to eat with me Sunday - I have a great rib roast!

Cheers!

and stick with it, I've had a bad few weeks weight wise, but my belts gone in a hole. you may find some of it is just changes in body composition, I find the better guide is the mirror and tape measure

Just tell her you can't eat the grain based stuff because you're on a gluten free diet.  You don't have to be specific about what kind of gluten free diet it is.
