Breakfast:

1 cup raspberries
1 tbsp coconut oil
1/3 cup walnuts
1 egg fried in 1 tbsp olive oil

Lunch:
4 oz pork roast
Big Ass salad with spinach, avocado, cucumber....

Supper:
1 rack of pork ribs
steamed broccoli

I'm hungry today....and now after writing it all down I kinda realize why....likely not enough fat anywhere!  I'm debating going to the gym tonight or tomorrow morning.  Some days I feel like I know what I am doing and other days I'm just hungry and feel lost again...

Maybe your breakfast needed some meat to tide you over for the day? Also, the raspberries could have made you hungry. When I eat fruit it's just like any other carbs, they make me hungrier.  :D

Yup I think you are right.

Today so far:

1 cup crock pot beef/stew (beef with fat added and spices)
1 cup lady grey tea w/1 tsp sugar (not paleo....but WAY less sugar that before).  It's a gradual process eh?!

okay rest of the day went

big ass salad - giant amount of spinach, 1 whole avocado, 1/3 cup walnuts, 1 cup cucumber, baby carrots, a ton of shrimp, 2 eggs, and paleo dressing.

then some idiot stick put truffles on a plate in front of me!!  GAH!  so...6 truffles which led to 10 caramels

handful of Mrs. May's nut snacks (not all paleo since they have rice malt syrup)...but now I am tumbling down a slippery slope and so supper was

2 scrambled eggs
2 slices ham
2 pieces raisin toast
cup a tea (with honey!  thanks warren!)....

coincidence that I started my monthly migraine about 1 hour after truffles and caramels?  and was beotchy as all get out when I got home form work?!?!??!  ugh.....my body is likely craving all that junk because it's trying to leave my system I think eh?  well that's what I am telling myself to feel better about cheating.  argh...tomorrow's a new day!

One additional step that may be easy to make would be to use honey instead of sugar.

Also Chinese teas seem to need sugar less.

Day 1 back in the saddle!

up at 415 am because on early shift - not hungry

745 am - 1 cup stewed beef with steak spice
              1/4 cup walnuts
              1 cup Joy tea with 1 tsp honey

11am - 1 cup stewed beef with steak spice
            1/2 cup baby carrots

2pm - 3 slices beef jerky
          1/4 cup almonds
          1/4 cup pistachios

5pm - 2 boneless skinless chicken thighs
          1 cup sauteed spinach
          1 cup sauteed mushrooms
          garlic, pepper, white wine for sauteeing

6pm - 1 banana
          almond butter

it does have some salt in it but it's very low in sodium...It's from Victorian Epicure which is a local comapany here on the Island

feeling super psyched today!

up at 430am...just had meds and water

745am: 2 cups bison chili
            1 clementine (size of a golf ball)
            1 small avocado

10am:  tea with 1 tsp honey

1130am: 1 cup meat stew
              1 clementine
              1 small avocado

4pm: 1 cup decaf coffee
         2 piece bison pepperoni

5pm: 6 oz salmon
        1 cup broccoli
        2 chicken thighs (no skin - that's what was left!)

             1 tbsp lard
             mushrooms
             onions

My first cooking with my lard...it's almost too pretty to use!  Omelette tasted fantastic cooked in lard.

hmmmm had extremely stuffed up nose after eating the omelette...about 20 minutes after eating it AND had phlegmy throat and one or two hives.  I haven't had eggs in a while...wondering if I am reacting to them.

the bison pepperoni isn't my favorite so I am cutting that out.  Just waiting for my dehydrator to make beef jerky

It looks like you are doing wonderfully! How do you feel now that you've been back to it after the holidays? I know I had enough candy to feed a village during the holidays so I feel amazing in comparison!

One note: I know you are eating avocados for multiple reasons but if you are trying to lose weight, you might want to not have quite as much each day. Same goes for nuts, dried fruits, etc.

Over the course of 6 months I lost over 30lbs doing paleo WOE and working out fairly consistently. I've managed to keep it off for 2 years staying on average 70% paleo. I'm now trying to lose those last 10-15lbs and it's a challenge. I'm definitely trying to be as 100% paleo (with those few cheats a week, of course...gotta have SOME indulgences!) as I can.

This forum really helped me when I was struggling to find my groove. You're in the right place!

Possibly.

What kind of lard are you using?  Good lard is excellent, but some of the lard one finds in grocery stores is hydrogenated, and thus more of an industrial food than a paleo one.

Paleoredhead - I didn't realize about avocados and losing weight?!  I just assumed from the advice written here that you should replace carbs with fat and up your protein?  I've cut back nuts only because they don't make me very full until I eat a lot and then they make me "go".

oh no warren...this was my very own rendered lard!  So excited about it!

here's the post I put on that

rendered my first fat tonight!  Got 5 lbs of lard from butcher for $2!!!  Put it all in a huge turkey roaster at 300 with the cover on...took about an hour.  Strained it and here it is!!

I found my tea quite sweet today, even though that's how I usually take it.  A good sign that maybe my body is adjusting to low carbs....so next tea will adjust honey or try without!  Yesterday and today was decently sated inbetween meals and had NO desire to snack the second I got home from work (normally when I am on this shift I am reaching for everything carb because I am so exhausted...I hate mornings).  So I am cheerful and hopeful and excited that this is doing good things for me.   :D
