What i eat
« on: October 31, 2010, 03:27:10 PM »
Hi all.

7.30 am breakfast i eat some walnuts or hazelnuts, a banana and an apple.

10.00am i eat 2 boiled eggs, Some spinach leaves or lettuce.

Midday, boiled or steamed chicken, steamed broccoli or Brussels sprouts.

3pm, tuna or salmon. a boiled egg and a piece of fruit.

6pm, either steamed chicken or pork or beef. A salad with a lot of green leaves and some broccoli.

9pm, some more nuts and maybe a small piece of chicken.

I dont drink tea or coffee or juices. I only drink water all day.
I have been doing this nearly 5 weeks now and i feel great. I have lost 9kgs.
I am 38 years old, I'm healthy, I go to the gym 4 days a week but for all the exercise i was doing i wasn't seeing a lot of results. Now i am losing bodyfat and can see some results.

That is a great start. Are you choosing the fattier cuts of meat, eating the chicken skin etc?
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

The fat is healthy if it is not being fed all the antibiotics, hormones, and crap.  The Omega 3 to 6 ratios are better with pastured raised vs. the grain-fed. Rubbing some ghee on the skin before cooking makes for some crispy skin (YUM!).

I now eat 2 organic raw eggs for breakfast. I dont eat fruit in the morning anymore as i was experiencing a slump around lunchtime. At 10am i eat chicken. At 1pm I have 3 boiled eggs. At 4pm i eat salmon. For dinner i have a fatty cut of meat, broccoli and some other veg. I an taking 2200iu of vitamin D3 daily and some krill oil capsules. I am taking flax seed too. At about 8.30pm i have chicken again or fish. I don't feel hungry anymore.

You're getting it!  IMHO, lose the flaxseed though.  The foods you are eating negate the need.  ;D

Flax seed isn't really paleo; paleolithic man wouldn't have spent time picking it off the grass.  Some people use it to improve omega 3:6 ratios, but with the organic eggs and salmon, you shouldn't be having a problem there.

I have cut out the apples and bananas altogether now. When i started first i was eating 3 or 4 bananas and about 4 or 5 apples a day, now i feel i don't need them. I am eating alot of chicken though. is there any harm in this?

I was eating about that amount of fruit for my first few months too; now I'm down to maybe one apple a day or the equivalent.

Chicken - the only thing to watch out for is that meat that's cooked too dry loses certain essential nutrients in the juices, and chicken is often cooked that way.  In my case, pork is what I eat well done.  My solution is to make sure I use the juices in other cooking, and get some rare beef each week; you may have a different solution.
