I have always been overweight, the last few years morbidly obese. I tried Weight Watchers (which I loved but hated constantly counting and obsessing over everything; I always wondered how can I eat so much ice cream, lose weight and still be healthy?), Atkins, South Beach, Cabbage Soup diet, Dr. Oz diet, vegan, vegetarian, any diet at all. Some I lost weight on, some not so much. But I was always starving. I could eat a full meal and immediately feel hungry again. I was worried about my blood sugar, allergies and health problems with getting older and being obese. Plus, I wanted to look good!
Last December I moved to Austin, TX to be with my husband. The first day I was there we went shopping at Whole
Paycheck Foods and I was in love with all the free magazines and brochures on better health. In one of the more "out there" magazines was an article on the Paleo lifestyle. I did some research online and decided it made sense and was definitely do-able for me, so I tried it for three months. I lost one pants size and immediately felt better (still tired a lot, though).
My husband and I went on vacation for a month and we went off paleo somewhat, but still tried to eat as closely to it as possible. I'm proud to say that as of the day we got home I had lost another size. By the end of the trip I was using my dress pants as pajamas because they were so big. Now I crave tuna and avocado instead of cake and candy. I love this lifestye!
