I started out being semi-paleo by cutting out wheat after I found out I was allergic to gluten in my teens. I have since been on a sugar ban, only using natural sugars but sparingly. I started doing HIIT in the past couple of years after getting bored of yoga and running (knee injuries are not fun)
I have in the past used almond flour in baking treats, as after years or not eating wheat, I do miss the occasional brownie and cookies! I am sick of almonds, although I know they are good for you
I recently read about the "caveman power" diet, but have anyways used a similar model for myself over the years to get fit. The diet is based on intermittent fasting during the day, drinking only water, tea, grazing on fruit and nuts and then "feasting" at dinner time for the first 2 - 4 weeks. For newbies, the recommendation is that you can eat pretty much anything. Although I prefer to eat paleo as this helps drop the pounds (for example after a holiday!)
This method of eating suits me as I absolutely hate ruining my appetite eating small meals through the day, and never really having the pleasure of eating a full meal at dinner time, and I miss the social side of eating dinner with friends or family. I should add that I am small framed, so eating a heavy lunch would mean that I have probably ruined my dinner. Does anyone else have experience with Intermittent Fasting?
Some people I know (and they are of a healthy weight) eat only once a day. I really found this to be beneficial myself ... and it does give a break to the digestive system.
I would love to hear about anyone else's experiences/ your thoughts.
