Newbie to the board
« on: January 23, 2007, 12:38:05 PM »
Hello All - I'm a newbie to the board and have been reading about the caveman diet for about 4 weeks now.  Not only to lose weight but to also help with some other issues I am having.  I have been on the Feingold diet for 2 yrs which has helped - but I don't think I can go any further in curing my issue - hence the Caveman diet.  My biggest issues I think are I am a Diet Coke/Pepsi addict and when I quit drinking it I GAIN big time! My next issue I guess is what can I pack for lunches and snacks? I guess I can ask that one on the other board.  I am really trying to control my serotonin level in my brain ( I have OCD and Anxiety) and would love to control them even more than I am now with diet.  I do NOT want to take med's anymore.  I weened myself off them about 8 months ago and I haven't looked back :-)  Anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it  ;)

Hello and welcome.  Lots of helpful people here.  Please keep us posted on how the paleo regimen helps with your OCD and anxiety issues.  I have read some research indicating that Omega-3 oils (found in fish, walnuts, flaxseeds and winter squashes) will help with some brain disorders like ADD/depression.  I'd be very interested to hear if it helps you too. Hi! OCD and other behavioral problems might also be linked to gluten sensitivity (not necessarily full-blown celiac disease) so paleo eating might help by eliminating gluten from diet.
