Greetings from IL - I have been reading The Primal Bluepring and I realize from reading some posts here that some of the foods listed in the book are not truly paleo. Having said that I am planning on switching to a paleo eating style mostly because I feel like crap most of the time. I've been thinking a lot lately about how I feel after eating foods and realize that I feel that I seem to be sensitive to certain foods. For instance, I loooooooove oatmeal but it gives me so much gastric distress after eating it  :( which bums me out. But the distress isn't worth eating it. So anyway, here I am, reading my book, readying myself to make the switch to paleo. I have a few questions:
  • How often should I eat? When I am hungry? Or is there a schedule that will help reduce the carb cravings?
  • How can I make sure I am not hungry 30 mins after eating? I make stir fry for dinner with meat (either chicken breast or flank steak), broccoli and mushrooms and not kidding I am hungry less than an hour after eating it :(

Welcome.  Primal is a lot better than the average western diet, but you're right, it's not quite paleo.

Eating when you are hungry works well if you aren't coordinating with a family.

To reduce carb cravings, minimize carbs.  The only significant forms of carbohydrate that are paleo are fruit and to a lesser extent root vegetables like carrots - but not tubers - and some people minimize the fruit to avoid carb dependency.

To make sure your meals are filling, be sure to eat enough, and make sure your meals have enough fat in them.  Animal fats like unhydrogenated pastured lard or grass finished tallow are best, though there are some reasonable vegetable substitutes.  Be sure not to have any rice or other carby foods with your stir fry - just eat twice as much stir fry instead, and don't skimp on the fat.

For me I've found a regular eating routine helpful, but others mix it up. It takes a bit of time to experiment and figure out what works best for you. I've found a big cooked breakfast with lots of protein and fat is very helpful in keeping me satisfied later in the day, so I always have a large breakfast. I'm feeding a family so dinner is a regular event. Lunch varies depending on what I'm doing and what time I ate breakfast and how hungry I am. I've found preparing regular real meals important because if I snack instead, the snack is generally not as healthy as what I'd make for a meal. For example, I'd often snack on fruit, which isn't as healthy or sustaining as meat or fish with vegetables. I used to graze a lot before paleo, and I'm trying to get away from that habit.

The stir-fry isn't sustaining because there isn't enough fat in it. Chicken breast and flank steak are both lean. For a paleo stir-fry, you need to add plenty fat, like at least a tablespoon or two per person of tallow when you're frying it. Try roasted fatty meat with roast veges to feel the difference.
