Well, to give you an idea of my present condition, I should start at the beginning.
I was an avid runner and cyclist who could basically eat anything and keep my weight at around 190, where 180-185 was ideal for my body type. I'm presently about 220 and feeling fairly miserable. I had something discovered on my spinal cord called a "cavernoma", which is a collection of blood vessels that get twisted and were putting pressure on my spinal cord, acting in the same fashion as a pinched sciatic nerve (where you get the foot drag and loss of mobility)
After my surgery I had zero feeling in my right foot, making me use a walker for a few months. I have great strength in my right foot now but still very little feeling, making me walk with a limp, and making running impossible. It is possible I will regain feeling, as nerves do regenerate, but for the time being I've only regained a little feeling 11 months after my operation. Even driving is tricky.
I'm trying to get my weight down and my energy levels up and just started on the path to Paleo, since I just started this the one big difference thus far is appetite! The desire for binge eating/snacking is really fading, and if I eat the right foods I can lose these extra 30 pounds.
Just started "The Primal Blueprint - Your 21 Day Total Transformation" by Ironman Mark Sisson and really like the way he wrote this. If anyone has any other "beginner" suggestions I'm all ears.
