I found this link on Art DeVany's site and found Art's on a link from CrossFit. 

I'm 56 and retired from the Coast Guard after 31 years.  I'm now working full-time for a defense contractor (surprise, surprise).  I've worked out all my life, experimenting with all sorts of routines over the years.   I've been doing CrossFit for about a year now, and following the Paleo eating style for about 6 months.  I find the two programs complement each other nicely. 

I've always kept myself in good shape through exercise and watching what I ate (in terms of avoiding junk food), but never achieved the leaness I wanted.  The combination of CrossFit-style exercise and Paleo-style eating did the trick.  After about 6 weeks of giving up grains (which I have always loved, especially whole grains), potatoes, and really limiting dairy intake,  I dropped about 10 pounds without losing muscle mass or strength.  I'm steady at around 162 pounds (I'm 5' 10"), am pleased with my "horesepower-to-weight ratio" and continue to make steady gains in strength and endurance.

I browse a number of fitness sites.  There's lot's of good info out there, but a lot of junk to wade through too, so it pays to be discerning. I regularly read Clarence Bass's site, BronzeBow, Mens Health, CrossFit, and of course, Art's site.  I really look forward to reading Art's site every day.

I'd like to thank the Caveman Forum staff for opening this site.  Looks like you're off to a good start.  I'm sure Art doesn't have the time to answer all his Email, and I've found that there are some really smart, experienced  people out there on these forums that do a great job of answering questions.

Great intro and glad you found the site

Hope you can learn some stuff but also teach us from your experiences as well
