Hi everyone,
I am 21, and learned about Paleo a few weeks ago and really found it interesting, especially since I realized around the same time that I was whey/Lactose intolerant and that I am also considering wheat as the one responsible for my bloating (dairy/coffee aside).
Hence encountering Paleo.
I don't have a life-impacting reason to start the diet, I mostly am curious for the changes it will do and I find the reasoning behind Paleo sound enough to give it a try (not woah-inducing, I know).
I don't think I'll have a problem with restricting myself.
I am not a huge pastry/junk food eater. In fact, since I am recovered from an eating disorder that bordered between calorie obsession and plain anorexia without falling in the dangerous undewrweight thing, my problem is more to STOP restricting myself rather than the contrary.
So I don't think switching and cutting some things from my diet will cause much problems (me saying that today, we'll see in two weeks)

I'm here, mainly, to get advices on the matter of carbs. Maybe I'm the one who's misinformed and should drop carbs to rely on fat, but since I do not have weight issue any longer, I'm reluctant on giving up on them.
As someone who's doing crossfit 4-5 days a week on top of 5km running sessions (even ten during peak season), I feel like I need the carbs to keep fueling my body since it's a faster energy provider than fat (IMO)
I've also read a lot of papers from people who decided to cut carbs from their diet and, while it was great for even the first few months, they crashed really hard in the end.
I know that Paleo doesn't necessarily means low-carb, but I see a few people going that way and heightening on fat instead to lose weight (which is definitely not a problem for me).

Usually I go on a 50% carb, 30% protein and 20% fat diet during training day, while lowering carb intake, shifting it equally between protein and fat, during rest day, for a ratio of around 30-40% carbs, 35-40% protein and 25-30% fat.

Coming upon Paleo was definitely a paradigm shift, expecting higher fat intake and lower carb intake (or at least cutting on processed food/sugar, which I was already doing, amongst other things) and I am currently wondering how to start and how to actually balance My fat/carb intake in order to maintain my weight without impacting my active life in the long term.

Hi there from USA!

Lots of folks do sweet potatoes or similar carbs, particularly post-workout.
Work on the 80/20 rule for yourself so you don't get obsessed again - try to eat 80% clean on a daily basis.

Take things one day at a time but plan your meals.

Welcome.

I'd recommend getting your carbs from fruit, which are paleo.  As long as you don't have an issue with gaining too much weight, have as much fruit as you want.
