Hiya
« on: February 09, 2016, 06:25:33 PM »
Hey everyone, I'm Jill I'm new to the paleo thing and really, its hard... I'm the only one doing it and I'm 17 so I don't buy the food and those who do, don't know what to buy and I'm surrounded with junk food that I crave so badly.. I'm doing this because I have hypothyroidism and my medicine worsens my already pretty bad depression.. But I feel so trapped because it feels like I can't eat much of anything in the house as it either has sugar, gluten, or dairy of some sort... I feel like I'm going crazy.. What do I do?

Hi there -

Take things 1 day at a time.
See if you can politely suggest healthier foods slowly into your family's shopping trips.

Keep in touch on here for support - let us know how each day goes

Welcome.  That's a tough situation.

Would it be possible for you to go along on grocery shopping trips and have some influence on what is bought?

My family eats pretty healthy they just don't know how to eat paleo and tend not to read ingredients.. Ever... But for the most part they eat well.. Bland.. But well.

Ask your parents to read "Grain Brain", "Wheat Belly", and "Good Calories, Bad Calories". If those 3 books don't bring them around then you'll just have to do the best you can until you can live on your own and pay for your own food!
