New and excited about Paleo!
« on: December 10, 2011, 03:09:54 PM »
Hi everyone, good to be here, i'm sure you guys will help me out heaps as i'm just starting out.  I've been doing CrossFit for 4 months and after seeing a few members jump ahead in leaps and bounds from a paleo diet, I had to try it!  I spent a few weeks cutting things out like bread, pasta, rice and packaged stuff like muslie bars.  Today is just my 3rd day of straight paleo.  I will shortly post a Q in nutrition as I keep finding conflicting info on what is and isn't paleo approved.

What i'm hoping is to lose some body fat, gain muscle, improve performance while just feeling better overall.  The concepts all make sense so i'm sure I will see those results...I hope!

Hi, welcome

strict paleo
natural, unprocessed meat with the fat
animal organs and fats
fish
eggs
some nuts (NOT peanuts)
berries
leafy/cruciferous veg
mushrooms
root veg (carrots, onions, turnip, parsnip, sweede etc. etc.)

paleo acceptable to most
summer and winter squashes (zucchini, butternut, pumpkin etc)
coconut products

paleo acceptable to some
nightshades (eggplant, peppers, tomatoes)
non-berry fruits
olives
butter/ghee

acceptable vices to consume on occasion
85%+ chocolate
cocoa
red wine
green or white tea

not paleo
everything else.  Processed meat of any kind, vegetable oils, nut oils, sugars, dairy, yams, rice, sweet potato, additives, whey protein etc. etc.
Sugar addiction kills more people than all other kinds of drugs combined

If your food needs a prefix, it's not paleo!
