When I enter something in the search box the resulting posts that appear seem to have many words replaced by asterisks  ???

Hmm. Maybe it's just me. A linux thing? Below is an example I've copied from the results I got when I searched 'tallow'

......  new too paleo, like a month or so and Ive made tallow a couple of times now. Gotta say im not real keen  ............ . In the bin it went...  Anyway making the tallow is easy and i reckon the lower the temps the  ............  goes right through the curry also. Compared to tallow I reckon the taste is also night and day.  What  ......

You mean ellipses?  I think the summary just shows occurrences of the term searched for along with a little context.  Where the term appears multiple times in the post, you get several pieces of context, with ellipses in between to indicate omitted portions of the post.

OK thanks Warren. Yes ellipses. They don't appear in most searches. It didn't occur to me to click on the title. Duh.
