Complaining to complain
« on: August 20, 2014, 05:44:20 PM »
So, I blew out my knee about a month ago at a jiu jitsu tournament - torn ACL and torn meniscus. MRI confirmed it, and my orthopedic surgeon gave me a few options. I went for door number two and had the meniscus cleaned up with the option of getting the ACL replaced (cadaver ligament) at a future date. I didn't want to be laid up for the whole summer, and be unable to train JJ for a year. While he was in there he cleaned up some bone spurs and confirmed my ACL is 100% torn. I'm looking at 4 weeks until I'm at 85% recovered with the last 15% coming some weeks thereafter. I'll have to wear a hinged brace when I train, but no more competitions for me until I get the ACL fixed. I'm doing my PT religiously, icing like crazy, and taking Norcos only as needed.  ;D

Sorry to hear that!

Get plenty of bone broth or oxtail soup, or at least vitamin C, in case it helps with rebuilding the connective tissue.
