Grass Fed Beef in San Diego
« on: October 31, 2010, 01:00:51 PM »
Well, I found a source for grass fed beef here locally, Homegrown Meats www.homegrownmeats.com!  The herd is on Palomar Mountain.  They have a store front in La Jolla CA.  We stopped in there today and picked up a few items.  Two large rib eye steaks, $24.99 per pound = $52.48 for the pair.  1.12 pounds Ground beef, $10.07 or $8.99 per pound, and one pack of grass fed all naturalhot dogs $7.99...  Total cost $70.54.  I'll post pics when I cook the beasts.
No expectations, no disappointments!

I wonder how much cheaper they would be if they had their storefront in Pacific Beach or Ocean Beach?  Who can afford La Jolla?  (assuming there are people in those locations that aren't vegetarians)

When I worked closer the the coast I would sometimes shop at OB Peoples Food Market for produce, but they don't sell meat.  They are a vegetarian store started the 1960s.  (You don't need to wear Patchouli oil cologne to shop there  ;D)

They might be cheaper, but they might not be able to charge $8.99 a pound for ground beef, either.

PD, I think the folks in La Jolla can afford it and "will" pay the price.  OB, PB, MB, not so much...  Ramona, Alpine, and even Lakeside maybe a better location to make it more affordable but who knows....  I vote for Poway!  Heck Mira Mesa would be best for me but the Filipino folks living here would not much go for it I think.  Mira Mesa folk lean more to fish and pig face...  You can get some great over all Asian here...

WOW!  :o  You have got to look at buying online.  The rancher I buy from here in MO for hamburger and roasts it averages a bit over $5.00 a pound.  The steaks are more of course and she makes some "to die for" jerky and beef sticks.  Let me know if you want the link, I will PM it to you.  (No I don't have anything to do with the company...yada..yada..)

I just bought 25 lb on sale here:

http://www.grasslandbeef.com/Detail.bok?no=82

I'm not saying they're the best choice, necessarily, they just currently have a sale on.

Grr, you can post a link, but I get flagged as SPAM. American grass fed beef dot com  put all the title together.

This company https://www.toplinefoods.com/ just started shipping to San Diego for all of you there. They also either home deliver or ship to all of AZ too.

I have been getting their home delivery service in Phoenix for a long time now and have always been so happy with their grass fed beef, it is also organic. Delicious!
