Ahh, that makes sense warren, good info.  What a journey this is.  I'm working toward paleo, but it's gonna have to be about progress... Feet pointed in the right direction...

MEAL THREE (yesterday)
Steak
Broccoli
Potato (yeah, I know  ;))

Also took vitamins & had lots of water yesterday.


TODAY

MEAL ONE
paleo chili
1/2 avocado
Over lg portion of spinach leaves

Vitamins, water, v8

"MEAL" TWO
Smoothie: tons of Spinach, Blueberries, Fz peaches, A few cherries, almond milk, hemp powder


MEAL THREE
Steak
Apple w cashew butter

Valerian tea
Magnesium
(I take 500 mg magnesium each night)

Ack! From everything I've read, sweet potatoes are fine for Paleo, though in moderation, and it's the white tubes that should be avoided.  Interesting.  Well, for the moment I'm holding onto them --lol!  Though you may be right that they (and the grapes!) probably don't help much with cravings.

Here's day two of journaling so far:

MEAL ONE
2 eggs, bacon, 1/2 an avocado
V-8
Green tea with unsweetened almond milk

MEAL TWO
chicken salad (homemade paleo mayo) with grapes, over large salad
Sm red pepper

Plenty of water

ugh. hanging in there but the cravings are strong.

getting ready to have some valerian tea for bedtime... & to call it a day!

Day 1 of food journaling...

MEAL ONE
2 eggs, in olive oil
V-8
2 Cups coffee, each with 1T unrefined coconut oil in it
Vitamins: D-3, Omega 3, B-Complex
8 oz water

Ok, maybe not the strongest start, but certainly an improvement on the 2 enormous Cups of sugar-cream laden coffee and then Captain Crunch at noon that I had yesterday.  :o

Welcome to you Kem -- looking forward to going on this journey with you. Here's to lots of encouragement!

Eric -- lol, that is really funny!!  Earlier today I replied to the FaceBook CavemanForum page post that said the same thing!  Here was my reply (important to keep a sense of humor, that's for sure!):
hahahaha! this is funny!!! it's so me! lol... yep, a resolutionist I am indeed. darn glad to be out of my old category though: the SoWhat?YaGottaDieOfSomething Club... here's hoping that in 2014 I can go from a Resolutionist to a FullyEmbraceTheLifestylist!  =)

Warren, great article!  and I totally agree with NOT listening to what my body says while I make the transition, this was a great reminder.  Also good to know about how to make the adjustment go as smoothly & quickly as possible.  Made me hungry for a yummy fatty rib eye!

G, thanks for you the encouragement.  Yeah, giving up the smokes was rough, really really really rough. So grateful to not have to go through that again!  I'm quite active in a program of recovery, so while getting sober was difficult, I didn't have to do it alone, which really makes it do-able.  Hoping for the same here with Paleo!

Thanks again all,  my eating was terrible today,,, not even worth mentioning... gonna keep on showing up though.  Thanks again for the support!

Introductions / New Here, Retuning to Paleo

In the summer of 2012 I discovered Paleo.  I was able to throw myself into it & eat well for 2 mths.  I've never felt better...   Ugh, what happened?!?!  A year & a half later I'm ready to go Paleo again... Or let's say my Dr is ready for me to...

So I am, suiting up & showing up as they say.  At least ready to begin food journaling to get honest with myself.  I have gluten issues, blood sugar problems and an enormous sugar addiction... I'm a former smoker & a recovering alcoholic.  Haven't had a cigarette in 12 yrs and nor a drink in over a decade.  Gotta say, I sometimes feel entitled to my pastry! ... I'm trying to shift that perspective though - I know that Paleo is something I get to give to myself - the gift of sleeping well, incredible energy, fewer moodswings, tummy healing,clearer skin, disappearing puffiness. 

Well that's it for now,  heading downstairs to get the day started. This looks like a great forum, glad to be part of a supportive community!
