Diet and nutrition / Week by Week
« on: May 09, 2016, 10:15:41 AM »
Starting at 263 and terribly out of shape and 45 Years old.  Target is 205 and to add lean muscle after all is said and done.  BMI would push me more toward 185 but I just do not feel healthy at that weight as that is less than I weighed in college.  So here we go....

Week 1 was really a cut-down week as I was travelling...  I dropped Fries, peanut butter and bagels and soda and went with grilled chicken sandwiches from Chick Fil A and Wendy's still eating the bun.   Lost 6 pounds.

Week 2, again travelling but searched out places to eat and found a grocery that all kinds of fruits in a ready to eat way so I loaded up... lots of meats, lots of fruits and vegetables done the right way, still learning the ropes but feeling great and seeing changes already in the belt buckle...added some cardio this week (4 days)   Lost 14 pounds.

Week 3, now at home and loaded down with great meals ahead, expecting another big week.

I will have those same temptations as I am on Paleo while my wife and children continue on with their everyday fare.  As I become more educated as to the why we should avoid certain foods, I intend to curb certain foods entirely in the household.  We all love Mexican food and the other night we went...they had their normal, I had a plate of shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato, and salsa... I made it to the other side without eating chips....a major victory..

I think that we, or at least I, have to look at this as a series of small victories...and keep stacking those victories and setting new goals right behind them to keep the momentum, there will be setbacks, but ultimately, the prize is ours to win...  Hang in there!!!

This week's trip started well...  I walked a mile from the hotel to load up on fruits and veggies for snacks and water for the room and then the hike back with some curls along the way...  Nice sweat and a nice pick up....  Out tonight to find a nice piece of salmon.   We will see what the Padres have for cavemen tomorrow night.

You are not alone!!  Be strong and give them up as you can...I am doing it cold turkey and expect a little more pain but know that it will pass...

I have tried and have had success in the past with other diets....but it is short lived as week by week the pounds return.  I am motivated to see all of the benefits other than weight loss that occur with this diet and soon to be way of life.  I am sure that I will learn many things in the posts here and look forward to the feedback and responses.  Tonight, I am at 263 pounds and look forward to seeing 205 in the very near future.

Diet and nutrition / On the road, fast food alternatives??
« on: April 28, 2016, 05:26:37 PM »
I spend 50% of my time on the road each month and am just getting started on Paleo...  I am looking to you, the experienced, to guide me through a couple of fast food choices that can be quick finds and true to the plan.  I have used travel in the past as an excuse not to follow a diet, but at this point I have to change!!  Your help is greatly appreciated!!
