yep...here I am....sidetracked.

Uh, let's just say that I want to change my journal title from crossfit to more of a GET OUTTA MY WAY B/C I HAVE HEAVY SHIT TO LIFT type of read....mkay punkin?

everything's going really well with my lifts..altho my technique on cleans is rusty from not doing them consistently.  DL's are moving up up and up  :)  squats--still working ATF.  Bench---yeah, not much to say about that.

Still movin and groovin  ;D

Great read Wolfie  ;)

I'd be toast if I tried to do my skill work after conditioning.

Recipes and meal photos / Re: Thanksgiving Menu - What's on it?
« on: November 22, 2010, 09:31:51 AM »
Thanksgiving is at MY house so PALEO IT IS!  Even my mom is on bored to make a primal pumpkin pie (courtesy of Mark's Daily Apple)

MY menu:
bird
broccoli/cauliflower/mushroom stuffing
Acorn squash & cinnamon cran apple crunch
Cranberry relish
apple crisp

My mom:
primal pumpkin pie
whatever else  ;D

My oldest sister: 100% Non-paleo
green bean casserole
cheesy potatoes
PEANUT BUTTER FINGERS! (that's gonna be a tough one...)

Let me explain the PB FINGERS....it's a family tradition that has been passed on from my grandma.  EVERY Thanksgiving and Christmas there are PB FINGERS and to have a holiday without them is out of the question.  My sister literally FREAKED out when I told her I wasn't making them and if she wanted them she'd have to make them.  These things are the DEVIL!  I'm REALLY hoping I have the strength to say NOOOOO to them.... ;)

Did you see this months Columbia magazine while you were in town?  The local international power lifter (61 years old, female!) has a very nice article written about her.  http://bluetoad.com/publication/?i=50833&pre=1      Page number 87.

I'll see if my computer will pull it up...thanks!

Did you have a look?  I was reading the article thinking "look what I could aspire too, even at my age!"

I did!  thank you!

I actually posted an article on here about one of our own MU TIGERS but it was flagged as spam and has never made it on here yet  >:(

Food Journals / Re: Lifestyle of the Rich and Paleo?
« on: November 05, 2010, 12:27:28 PM »
I feel sorry for them, because they don't need to be overweight or obese. 9 out of 10 of my friends are overweight or obese. Well, it's probably more like 9.5 out of 10. Trying to convince your friends or family to try it for 30 days is like pulling teeth. Especially, if you tell them that they can stop taking the medications for their autoimmunie disease or acid reflux, but they rather stuff their mouths with garbage. People would rather take medication than stop eating the foods they enjoy. Tonight, I am passing up the best pizza in town with my family because I know what gluten does to me.

Yeah it is sad.  It's sad that people don't take control of their own health.  It's sad that people just accept what "is" with themselves instead of trying to find a better way to live.
Passing up pizza....man that's rough.  I am a social butterfly so social outings I do find difficult.  Sometimes the only thing I eat is what I take.  It is hard.  But I don't miss feeling like dog poo the next day  ;)

Warren you are exactly right!

I usually can just keep my mouth shut but every once in a while people take it to far....people who know me and my lifestyle are used to it (but they still say stuff in a "just kidding" fashion---still annoying sometimes).  It's the people who DON'T know me that really tick me off.

How do they not know that this is my lifestyle b/c I have a medical condition?  Or some other problem?
It's just irritating.

Okay, a bit of a rant here so forgive me now for not being pc......but I'm gonna go ahead and say this:
PEOPLE ARE MORONS!

I am SOOOOO tired of DEFENDING the way I eat and the lifestyle I choose.  Where in the hell do people get the right to belittle me for EATING HEALTHY while they are stuffing double cheeseburgers in their faces!??!?!?  Do I go up to them and make a comment like "Oh, so your trying to be a fat ass huh?" b/c they eat that way?  NO!  So what gives them the right to say to me "Oh, are you eating LOW CARB b/c you think you're fat!??!"  NO YOU DIP SHIT I EAT THIS WAY BECAUSE IT FEELS GOOD AND IT MAKES MY BODY FEEL GOOD YOU FREAKING $*@**#%&#&$##*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No I don't think I'm better than you and no I don't look down upon you b/c of the way you CHOOSE to live your life.  It's not for me to decide how YOU live YOUR life and therefore I keep my mouth shut.  Why can't more people get that!?!?!?!

My personal favorite is "Well, Gwen, I've seen you eat chocolate before and have wine!"  Yes, yes you have....and you know what YOU MOSTLY LIKELY WILL SEE ME DO THAT AGAIN AT SOME POINT IN MY LIFE!  Shocker I know but it's true.  It's not like I'm going to be struck down by the mighty hand of GOD for cheating a bit here in there....BUT IT'S NOT EVERYDAY.  IT'S NOT EVEN EVERY WEEK/MONTH!  Get the picture you moron?!?!?  If I did it all the time then I'd have a problem, wouldn't I?!?!?!?!?

I've come to the realization that the more people who say stupid things to me like "oh YOU are on a diet?"  I just have to  brush it off and chalk it up to the fact that they just DONT GET IT!  No you freak...I'm not on a freaking diet...it's called
I CARE ABOUT MY HEALTH ENOUGH TO LOOK PAST THE THINGS THAT GIVE ME INSTANT GRATIFICATION AND CONSUME THINGS THAT IMPROVE MY QUALITY OF LIFE AND WELL BEING!

'nough said.

Carnival squash....little bit of olive oil, sea salt, pepper, etc etc...YUM!
pumpkin....no need to say anything on that one  ;)
Pumpkin seeds...garlic, onion, pepper, sea salt....roasted 350 for I dunno how lone...DELICIOUS!
Cinnamon apples...heaven.

Made ELK BURGERS last night.  First time for elk....it was yummy!!!

I love elk burgers!

My trick on roasting seeds. Wash off the pulp and dry them off - paper towel and then air dry.  Put in a bowl and lightly drizzle with your oil of preference.  Really not much.  Add whatever spices you like and mix up.  Then spread out on a cookie sheet and place in an oven set for 225F for about 50-min to an hour or so.  Start checking at 50 minutes.  At that low of a temp they will not burn , so don't sweat that.  Cook them until they start to get golden in color.  The time varies depending on the volume of seeds.

Yes, the elk was yummy.  Think I might get some more...but it is so pricey :o

The pumpkin seeds were a bit hit for my  taste buds.  I'm a texture eater so I always want something crunchy....these did the trick.  Although I must admit....I made 2 pie pumpkins, saved the seeds from both and the seeds are already gone...oops. :-[

SGDL again today...may I just say again how HARD these are...mother huncher they're tough.  I did them though and LOVED them ;D  I will love the results for sure.
I have a 3x/wk program that I'm doing (thx Wolfie for your wisdom) and I LOVE it.

It's amazing to me....I had 3 women today come up to me and compliment me on my strength and physique.  I was a bit taken back...I appreciate it don't get me wrong but I never quite know what to say.  Hopefully I can inspire these women to start using the "guys side" of the gym and get off the damn treadmill and lift a barbell over their heads...for pete's sake.

I could post everything that I'm doing in my wkout but I'm not....let me just say that I'm lifting heavy shit and it feels good  ;D
