Been doing military presses, deadlifts, chinups, clean and presses (which I think is just deadlift and military press combined) and I feel really strong doing it like a false sense of strength. For the deadlifts I have no wieghts attatched because I'm still trying to get the technqiue down for my back, and having to have your ass out. So I check in the mirror to make sure I'm doing this right for a few more sesh's. I still do dumbell curls for a warmup though, and been doing more x country running of late but I hate the dirt getting into my lungs on the mountain and my throat gets really dry when I get to the top.

I do seem to be inconsistent, obviously I'm not on the ground passed out after clean and press, but I don't have much energy so what I meant was, should I do other exercises and leave clean and press last because of it taking the most of my energy? The gym costs $25 a week so I want to be doing more than just clean and press.

Also that scares me now thinking about muscle specific training - Quasimodo, very good example of overtraining the pectorals.

Look anyway cheers for the info, I will review all of this, give it a few weeks and I will provide feedback to see where I'm at. There is no point in me discussing myths anymore because its unneccesary and wasting time, but its almost like now I don't even want to hear anything of what personal trainers say because they will just confuse me more and more.

One last thing but, if clean and press is the only thing I should do my gym session would be like 10 minutes, and would be a massive waste for membership, I believe you that it works every muscle but surely I can take advantage of some of the other equipment there?

I have been doing clean and press, but not every session, I find its really tiring and then I don't have any energy for other weights.

I didn't know you could train your whole body each session, I thought that if you do too much the muscle disperses everywhere rather focusing on one muscle and will take longer to develop. Is this true?

Also, I think vanity is the only thing driving me to the gym, which may sound bad but I mean you know, you are at the gym for long enough and you see everyone loves themselves that stuff is bound to rub off on you a little bit, its quite infectious. I think a certain degree of vanity is okay, like keeping clean with showers having hair cuts, maintaing oral hygiene. But our gym just has mirrors everywhere the only place where you could do weights with no mirrors is by the swimming pool.

English Muffins are effing disgusting I don't eat them anymore, I actually got sick like too much white bread made me have issues in the mens room, so no more of that. I just wait now till I'm starving and munch up on the vegies because when you are hungry anything tastes good, I have also stopped eating so much steak because it caused issues again in the mens room, too much protien binds you up unless you counter act it with a gallon of water and then you pee all day and who wants that.

I only use free wieghts now also, except for the cable thing for the shoulders and pectorals where you have your arms out and start flapping like you have wings a bit slower though. I have a lot more energy for swimming and running now that I just do free weights, the machines are kind of depressing I have to agree, for some reason I have a lot more energy with dumbells and chin ups etc. My main focus is deltoid and tricep now, but I want to pay more attention to legs as well, hence swimming using the kickboard or whatever, I can swim underwater for 25 metres without much trouble, I would really wish I could do 50 metres then I would almost be as good as a seal right?

I am not at all saying that paleo is a sacrifice or I wish I was eating crappy foods all the time or anything like that, far from it!

I just think in moderate amounts when not having junk food for ages you really enjoy it, know what I mean? I guess that's with everything though, sex everyday would get kind of boring after awhile because its more of a routine, this includes drugs also (joke), however moderate amounts occasionally and its good for the body as a break from the everyday grind.

Damn, I never saw it like that, I guess if that's how you feel towards junkfood then you will never have any problems with your diet, me on the other hand I see a sweet treat worth the compromise and like I said previously the more I tell myself I can eat whatever I want the less I feel like eating junk food and the more motivated I am to eat healthier alternatives.

I guess in a way its a relief because I was starting to see wldfg as the whole forum body, don't know why and I thought I must be doing something completely wrong in my dieting but now I see some members have as much trouble as me and comparing myself to wldfg is the first problem, although at least you are uncorruptable when it comes to food as far as inspirations go, your right up there with Ghandi. I wonder but, can someone abstain from 'junk food' for the rest of their lives, this is a report I wouldn't mind studying.

I know whenever I am 100 percent paleo in a week or so I then start eating every junk food you can think of, but doing 90 percent paleo and 10 percent junk, keeps most of the junk at bay, like my brother always eats mcdonalds and I had half of his fries last night but then went on to cook some steak and vegetables. (First time I've had fries in months, I haven't had mcdonalds in years and KFC for about 8 months or so) yes I'm counting. The french fries from maccas is basically salt sticks, all I tasted was salt. I think the mentality is love the food you eat, eat the foods you love, this is my own personal way of dieting but I believe allowing yourself a little junk everynow and then motivates me more to eat better, and saying to myself I can eat whatever I want its reverse pyschology.

I was just over exagerating, yea I have nuts all the time and fruit but that only lasts for a couple of days then I want something to change it up to sort of keep the sugar levels at bay. Also I only have 3 steaks a week because red meat isn't good everyday this has been proven for colon cancers. I have fish or chicken for the other 4 days. Bananas are good, also I eat oranges and strawberries. Wlfdj, do you ever have a day off from paleo, and if so what do you eat?

Fair game, I can't do 100 percent paleo diet its too hard, I would go crazy if all I ate all week was vegetables and cabbage. Could you tell me what sort of foods you eat when you snack according to paleo, like I said before one member here said sesame crackers were good but I found them to be full of sugar.

Check out my new food journal dude, I don't eat rice at all and I have like maybe a handfull of whole meal crackers with turkey and cheese a week. This morning for breakfast I cooked up some atlantic salmon with broccoli and carrot, with some ginger and lemon squeezed on it was delicious and I had some cranberry juice - thats not paleo is it?

I'm not implying the workouts you provided to me will not make me have a muscular physique - I'm just saying there are people out there who can lift great and everything but in the mirror nothing shows for it.

I was not at all saying that, I made this comment previously so it didn't sound like that!

I was simply getting at, there are people out there who can lift massive amounts of weight and have no muscular appearance, and hypothetically I was saying I would rather beach muscles that look good, then being able to lift heaps but look not too good. BUT I was not implying in anyway that your advice was misleading or misguided please forgive me it was a mere observation of some of those people that are around.

This weekend I have a long weekend because in my country we have this thing called "May day", so I have ample time to try all this shiz at the gym and like I said earlier will give you feedback on how I am doing. Though I may get a personal trainer there to tell me if I have the right posture cause when I was first doing the clean and presses I wasn't spreading my feet out far enough. Should I stop doing clean and presses and now just do deadlifts?

Lastly, how is my diet not good? I have replaced like 90 percent of the carbs I used to eat now with protien, I don't get it.

@ Illcapo - I should of changed near future to sometime in the later later future, because I know when it comes to the lifting the weights I am very much a novice but I can run rings through most with my cardio endurance so where I fail at one thing at least I have the other, although being at peak cardiovascular fitness wouldn't take nearly as long as lifting heavy weights and becoming a machine but nonetheless I'm fit and also to remain this fit you have to push yourself to the extreme on a regular basis, I was sick for a week and when I started running again I almost felt like I started this all again from the beginning.

@ WLDFJG I will look into all of those exercises in bold, hopefully some are on youtube try some out get into routine and give feedback on how I am doing. When you were referring to the beach muscles saying they're all show and nothing else, does that mean doing those workouts will get you good muscle but it will be vanity muscle rather than anything real? Because through my workouts I'd rather look strong, then be strong and look weak - know what I mean? I see these guys all the time at the beach they have a barrel gut from drinking beer, not much muscle definition yet some of them could lift 6 times what I can do, and I think to myself, in the end girls are just as shallow as us and just want to see muscle. I'm not saying I'm motivated by getting more action, and I'm not implying the workouts you provided to me will not make me have a muscular physique - I'm just saying there are people out there who can lift great and everything but in the mirror nothing shows for it.    

Lastly, I totally agree with if you eat half ass'd and train half ass'd youll look like shit, absolutely.

I will still be doing the clean and press but only once a week when I do my shoulders. I'm talking about when I do dumbbell curls I'm usually swinging the weights and using my legs to lift them up, so I'm now going to do lower weight and slower reps, but that doesn't mean I will be doing more reps just slower, and holding at certain points when lifting, I feel it burns a lot more and my muscles are really tight after the gym rather than swinging them up an down like a cardio workout.

I don't know what you mean about "beach muscles"? I don't want to add on anymore bulk I just want to cut now, and then when I see more def I will bulk up again. Hope this makes sense. I hope to achieve at some point in the near future a lean cut physique, not a bulky muscular one.
